The usc game, minnesota game, Washington game, and oregon game were the most important games of our season that elevated our level of play.

Not sure I'd say PSU elevated its play in the USC, MN or WA games - PSU barely won those three and did not look good for large swaths in those games.

@@PatJohnson-w2n They won the Washington game like 35-7... other 2 I think taught them lessons. USC they came back and showed they could do that if needed & win a OT game, Minnesota they had a ballsy final drive with the fake punt and multiple 4th downs.

In an era where talent is spreading out, providing MORE opportunities to players who don't want to ride the bench to go elsewhere to actually PLAY (which is why they are called football PLAYERS) will solve the talent gap issue within 2-3 years. Hence, the argument that team A is much better than team B because of more talent is collapsing on sinking sand. It is precisely what college football needs. Imagine Ohio University upsetting Oregon in the playoffs. Hell, Idaho almost beat Oregon in the first game. Those against this are AFRAID their team is going to lose after being pumped up in the media and letting their fans down.

Maybe a bit of research would help. Notre Dame nickname originates from a news paper article which was covering a game against northwestern I believe in the early 1900 which stated the fighting spirit of the Irish players helped Notre Dame pull out a win. Notre Dame at the time had quite a few Irish ancestry players
