Irish O'Donnell family from the Point here. Still have family living there many including my uncle who won the Golden Glove of boxing around when this movie was filmed.

These dudes must be spinning in their graves. Nordelec is now a fashionable office building, what used to be slum apartments are now worth hundreds of thousands, chic cafés, trendy restaurants...

The double edged sword of gentrification. We get to enjoy the area now in its current form, but the original inhabitants aren't the ones to enjoy its renewal. I've had a few jobs at the Nordelec over the (recent) years, but love this video and seeing its old character.

Hard working people pay homage to the country that saved them from certain starvation. If some are offended, get over it. We have no time for entitled people.
@Bran08Eman8 ай бұрын
@@bingodeluxe Potato Famine caused many Irish to flee to Canada and make their home in Point St-Charles. Because of Provincial politics, it is frowned upon to be openly patriotic to Canada. The patriotic song in the film is a testament to their love of country. Just too many entitled people especially in Quebec that trample on others' rights and freedom. Point out this disparity solicits a list of Canada's crimes to Quebec. True or not, it provides immense political leverage.
