I am a new convert and I was speaking with a friend about how powerful words are and somehow from that conversation, I was prompted to go back to Genesis so I came home and read it but I felt like I was not reading it with understanding so I hopped on KZbin typed understanding Genesis and came across pastor Skeete now I am hooked. I hope I can attend one of his sermons in the future. I am learning so much from him I just know it's God who directed me to him because I am seeking bible knowledge. I am 37, and before being converted, I had no religious background,d and sometimes I felt like a fish out of water reading the bible by myself. Thank you, man of God, for teaching the gospel. I love the way you break everything so it is digestible even for a person who has a hard time understanding. Nuff love from Jamaica. Thank you, Father, for using Pastor Skeete, and thank you, Pastor Skeete, for allowing God to use you. Continue to be blessed❤

Several years ago, at a southern California SDA church, I approached the pastor after he presented a competent verse by verse, expository sermon. I told him about the following book that I had recently read. He replied that reading that book made him realize that he had been PREACHING WRONG for 25 years. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Selections from “Preachers of Righteousness: by Roy Allan Anderson. 1963 Chapter 1: “ Redigging the Wells of Expository Preaching” “The real moving power of the preacher is not in the words he says, but in the Word of God. And everything being equal, the more of that Word there is in the sermon, the more moving will be its message.” P15 “With civilization tumbling to pieces, people need more than a few happy thoughts served on a dainty dish of some obscure text.” “The naked Word of God went crashing through the incrustations of liturgy and ritual, bringing freedom to the multitudes.” “The Reformers were primarily expository preachers.” P16 “..because the Bible is so little known and so grossly misunderstood in our generation.” P17 (Challenge to all clergy: Conduct a survey/poll to see how many have ever read the whole bible or even whole new testament) “We must stop stringing a few beautiful stories on a thread of generalizations and holding up the resulting necklace as an example of our thinking” P18 They might have done tenfold more work intelligently had they cared to become intellectual giants.” TM p 194 (P19) “As we study the outstanding soul winners of the centuries, we discover they were all expositors. ALTHOUGH THIS IS THE MOST DIFFICULT TYPE OF PREACHING, IT IS ALSO THE MOST EFFECTIVE. P 24 (Most sermons are topical chew out sermons for implied Sabbath slacking tithe robbing, love-lacking , lazy lousy, lukewarm Laodicean losers OR.. pep talks for depressed, guilt ridden, hope-lacking crowd.) “Nine tenths of our people, including many of our ministers and teachers, are content with surface truth” R & H 4-21-1903 (P 26) SOP selections: “The church, ENFEEBLED and DEFECTIVE, needing to be REPROVED, WARNED, and COUNSELED, is the only object upon earth upon which Christ bestows His supreme regard.” EG White “Revival signifies a renewal of spiritual life, a quickening of the powers of mind and heart, a resurrection from spiritual death. Reformation signifies a reorganization, a change in ideas and theories, habits and practices.” SM Bk 1 P128 “The MINISTERS must be CONVERTED before they can strengthen their brethren. They should not preach themselves, but Christ and His righteousness. A REFORMATION is needed among the people, but it should first begin its purifying work with the MINISTERS.” 1 T 469 It has often been presented to me that there should be LESS SERMONIZING by MINISTERSs, acting merely as local pastors of churches, and that greater personal efforts should be put forth. Our people should not be made to think that they need to listen to a sermon every Sabbath. Many who listen frequently to sermons, even though the truth be presented in clear lines, LEARN BUT LITTLE. Often it would be more profitable if the Sabbath meetings were of the nature of a Bible-class study. 21 LtMs Lt 192 “The GREATEST HELP that can be given our people is to teach them to work for God, and to depend on Him, NOT ON THE MINISTERS. Let them learn to work as Christ worked.” 7T 19 (SEE Eph 4:12 for the clergy job description) “We become overcomers by helping others to overcome. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony.” RH 1909

Please be encouraged: The word of God is just like vitamin C. It gets depleted and so we must replenish it every day. The more you read it, the more it sticks in your mind. Further, the more you read it, the more it works it’s way into your your heart and mind and the more it changes you to follow Jesus Christ. Keep reading. Questions and doubts are encouraged as they lead to more knowledge as you seek answers. One thing that was an especial help to me is the study of how the Bible came to be in the first place. It’s origin is so amazing to me that I had to respond with belief, curiosity and faith. The Bible is one of the natural wonders of the world. Oops… I mean the universe.

I love your point about condensing the Bible into the Ten Commandments. In our broken state we have been given the Ten Commandments so that we can truely understand, the 11th commandment, the most important commandment…..love. Will there be 10 commandments in heaven or will it be completely unnecessary because finally love will be written on our hearts?

If we understand that the 10 commandments are design laws that do not need an enforcer, or punishment (there are wages, natural consequences). They are just the way the things operate, like gravity or the law of thermodynamics, or the laws of Mathematics. These laws operate and when we are in harmony with the laws, then everything is fine, so as long as we're in harmony with the Law of love, whether the ten commandments aee there or not, it does not matter, because we will be keeping them out of love, we will be in harmony with love (10 commandments are how we love God and our fellow man).
