Headcannon: when PE 1225 started to loose its magic the PERR commissioned an Acela from the Polar Locomotive Works. The OG 1225 now numbered 1226 is used for freight work and still has a bit of its magic left.

What a great introduction and review of this unique model of the Polar Express Acela by Lionel, Chris! So many interesting options to enjoy. Personally, I prefer the origin version of the Polar Express with the Berkshire steam engine like the movie, but that's because I like steam. But the look of that special Acela speeding around the rails is stunning! Thanks for this.

With just a little tune up they run and pull great and easy to work on. Here's a link to the Polar Express we did using the paint scheme Marx put on their WP diesel as our inspiration. THE SNOW ! On the 2 power units with black roofs, makes the look like a skunk. On the other cars, it just doesn't look right. YES, they should have snow on them, but it didn't look right. In my humble opinion. But this was a great video and lots of fun. You always seem to have fun in the train room.

I find most pentagraph based trains run 2 or more pending on size of set where pentagraph side follows the same direction of travel in a prototypical layout.. 7-9 car sets wold likely have 2 head units and central power cat in the middle due to length of train pn a 3 car set would have 2 active pentagraphs on the train to sustain the power between 2 cars with a 7 car option you would have 3 power units

The Polar Express high speed train set is great. Both sets are great for that matter. It would be nice if it were in N scale as My model railroad is N scale & is the Pacific West Coast railroad. My permanent layou is in the building phase at the present & will be running my trains on it by July 1,2022.
