I love this mod of the Polar Express, but the only thing that bugs me is that the polar express movie uses a sierra railway no. 3 whistle sound. But to be honest, I like it better than the Berkshire and its something that makes the Polar Express special.

I've always said all the Polar Express models were never accurate, even the more expensive ones, because they're replicating the real engine, not the one in the movie. I am elated someone with more money and know-how that me finally made an accurate model. Superb work -- extremely well done!!

Now what I would love to see is you custom build the passenger cars for the locomotive. According to several scenes, excluding the lake scene, there is one abandoned puppet car, 14 pullman type passenger cars, no baggage cars, and an observation car based partially upon the 20th century limited or the Blue Goose, with a rounded rear balcony and a large red ETD. It would probably cost a tonne, but still, it would absolutely cool to see.

I actually saw another guy do this. To get the pilot and sunken in head-light, he took the 3D model from the polar express gamecube game and 3D printed those parts.

What a fantastic transformation of that Berk to a replica of the one featured in the story and the movie, Sid! You have a keen eye for detail and contributed to the collection of the Polar Express model immeasurably. I'm sure you'll be receiving many requests for instructions on using your methods to accomplish this great achievement. I must admit that I didn't realize the Berk featured in the story was so different from the model Lionel put on the market. Thanks to you and Chris(RBP Trains) for sharing. One of my issues when it comes to doing the sounds in O is the lack of ability to customize the sounds in the way the two rail scales are able to with DCC. If it was possible, this would be even better with the correct whistle, Sierra Railroad 3's whistle. I don't think custom sounds can be uploaded into three rail models like what can be done with ESU LokSound.

My biggest gripe with the lionel 765 is the fact they went out of the way to get Rich Melvin to do the crew talk lines, yet they got the whistle wrong. I believe they used a clip from SP 4449 when it carried a six chime whistle in the 80s, instead of, y'know, taking a recording of a whistle from a locomotive that's been running during that model's entire production life?

I forgot that the Movie engine had some details removed. Had to look at it twice. I also noticed in the movie that the engine is very weathered, almost has an ice covered look. Would you consider weathering yours?

This is a pretty good model but, there are some things that you may want to change. 1. In the movie the wheels don't have silver lining on them you should change the lining to black. 2. Your model's railing is off on the left side. Make the railing connected. 3. In the movie on the pilot there is an empty part of it where there was a coupler but was removed. Add that to your model. 4. The whistle is not the sierra railway no. 3 whistle on your model. Please change the whistle sound to that. I hope these things help you improve your model. Watch @trainstorm1225 's video on his movie accurate model so you can get and idea of what I would like you to do.

Sid, great job transforming a NPR Berk into a Polar Express Berk. I have all the Polar Express passenger cars, just missing the Lionel Polar Express engine. I also have the MTH NPR Berk and I would love to be able to convert the NPR Berk into a Polar Expwss engine. I just don't have your expertise with installing the electronics. Now my only hope is for Lionel to reissue a new Polar Express Legacy engine this coming anniversary. PS, do you have a video on how you installed the electronics?

This is a beautiful build! Love how it’s movie accurate as well, shame the coaches aren’t, in the movie they are dark blue with red, but for some reason model manufacturers do a sky blue like colour instead of the navy-ish blue the coaches actually are, and the companies can’t say because it’s night time they look navy, even in bright lighting the coaches are a navy-ish blue

That's interesting but what if you have a layout that has Premier 2 Rail O Scale? How much would it cost to have a 2 rail conversion on a MTH Premier Berkshire?

The only thing it needs to be perfectly movie accurate, is to have 6 straight sand pipes on both sides of the sand some, and a lack of air pump shields.
