I learned over the years that the police box was a thing of England. What may be a shocker, is that one actually existed in Huntington NY late 70s, which was the first time I saw one in my country, and frankly, the only one. It was at the train station, and I asked an officer what it was when he was entering, blocking my view from seeing inside, and just said it's his police station. I was about 4 at the time and we were headed to the circus in Manhattan at the time. Never saw the show till I was 9, so yeah, I circled it a few times wondering how a police station could be in that thing, which was when my mom pulled me away so we could board our train. It sat there many years then one day in passing, noticed it was gone. Never found out what they did with it.

You’re forgetting 2 modern box props and the top signs on the RTD era weren’t white and blue

The lintel signs look like that in some pictures on the internet, it might be a change made after production ended

@@stuff31 the only pictures on the internet with a blue and white lintel sign are of a mini scale model not any actual props

I like smiths and capaldi’s one the most, while it’s not entirely accurate it’s the first Tardis I’ve seen and so has a special place in my heart, not to mention how I overall like the design.

Theres this one picture of a small scale box i know which has the lintel the wrong colour . I reckon he based his on that instead of the actual box

Series 7 b for smith and Peter capaldi's whole run correct the wood look, looking more like concrete with their matte finish, and apart from dimensions I think they look the best.

Something I noticed about Matt Smith’s and Peter Capaldi’s TARDIS was the lettering of the sign on the door. On all of the props, it appeared to be printed, but on the second reboot series box, it looked like the lettering was 3D, which I thought was odd.

I noticed the change of the wording too: thinking the newest TARDIS got stingy, responding to urgent calls only in white lettering on a dark field, while the black lettering in NewWho promises to "respond to ALL calls"...😅 ... but why should the Doctor help you with a stuck lid on jar of pickled onions ? - help yourself, unless you need a miracle cure 😅

In some of the images, it looked blue to me. There were more than one Richmond mark 1 prop and I suppose there may have been one or two that had different colours. Anyway, I quite like it.

googled it again, does seemt aht there was a blue sign version used at some point, but it was swapped out after damaged between series 1 and 2, and you can''t really see it in any rtd era erpiode because of colour grading and lighting... interesting

@@WeTravelbyNight The box with the white text on blue background isnt a real size TARDIS and its not official its a mini scale model built by someone there are images of it sat on a bench with 3 other models for classic who boxes

@@duncanmackenzie2779 I doubt money for a recurring prop would be a problem, what with (or without) the massive investment from Bad Wolf/Sony. Can't think for the life of me why they haven't made a proper police box replica. It's such a beautiful thing.
