😔😔😔this song makes me sad
@derekbaker32796 жыл бұрын
It's supposed to make people feel uncomfortable, but (even Sting admits that) it sounds too perky for a song about a obsessive stalker (which many people do not realize)!
@solidsnakesfan29295 жыл бұрын
@@derekbaker3279, it is surprising because the lyrics themselves say, "I'll be watching you" and still many couples that heard this say, "What a lovely song". The first time I heard the song, I found it rather weird, but the tone and the instrumental sounds... That changes the mood of the song. Still, the lyrics are weird even for an obsessive stalker.
@derekbaker32795 жыл бұрын
@@solidsnakesfan2929 Very true! I guess that's one of the difficulties of writing a hit tune. You want it to be catchy, but the story in it is sad or dark. Three other popular 'romance'/wedding songs that are terribly misinterpreted are "The One I Love" by R.E.M. (actually a break-up song), and "A Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum (a sad story that probably involves a groom or groom-to-be confronting his fiance/bride about cheating on him). Also, I recall being at a wedding where the bride was of Chinese heritage, and they requested "China Girl" (Bowie's version of Iggy Pop's song), which is about Bowie & Iggy going to a heroin detox home in Berlin & the case worker taking monitoring/taking care of Iggy was Asian. Like the Police tune, there are some 'creepy' lyrics in "China Girl" which only make sense in context of a junkie experiencing withdrawl symptoms & fighting the 'demon of temptation's" attempts to 'negotiate'. There are so many famous songs that are so badly misinterpreted by the mainstream crowd!
@solidsnakesfan29295 жыл бұрын
@@derekbaker3279, exactly. It might seem weird, but I've seen people play Careless Whisper at Weddings (funny but weird at the same time because it talks about a lover who has cheated his love and now he cannot hope to have a relationship with her again). But it's tune... It's romantic and lovely for many people.
@derekbaker32795 жыл бұрын

I've noticed this instrumental mix is a direct combination of the isolated instrumental tabs once breaking the song down and then put back together again but with all the stuff heard you won't hear in the standard mix even when taking away just the vocals due to some instruments like the synth not being mixed upfront in the intro and that fuzz electric guitar part at the end.

I wouldn't say the same. While a lot of 80's music sounds good, a lot of other things from the 80's aren't really... preferable for lack of a better term. Hell, it's probably a good thing you were born around 10 years more or less, because you could just play the music, movies and anything else you want with just a few taps on a screen, anytime and anywhere. No way in hell could you do that back then.
