Playing that riff over and over again must be a real fret hand workout, lol. Great job on this one, it's truly a classic! 😎

The real burner is playing the riff 12x times before the outro solo at the end.

That arpeggiated riff looks like a workout.

Andy summers is so underrated, great cover bro! You should try to play Valley of the kings by Blue murder.

You’ve smashed it BWM with the song that started my obsession with The Police 😍

Andy Summers is a genius✨ His backing play really suits the song. Every time I hear such a wonderful play, I'm glad I chose the guitar as a hobby😊 This was the first song Sting performed at his live in Japan🇯🇵. Japanese fans were very happy with this Song. Thanks a million for playing this Song wonderfully Mr.Ben❤. You are a super guitarist !! I feel happy againTonight❤

Thanks Kaori! Andy is really underrated for his work, I feel. Sting must have been great to see live. 👀🎵

@@bwm5150 Hi😀 I've never written music, so I don't know, but maybe Andy did the great guitar riff in almost the Police song. Before I play the guitar, I was JUST interested in Sting's handsome face ❤️😍😎💕. Thank God I met my guitar. And I always thank you very much. All Guitarist are the hero for me 🎸👍🏻🎸👍🏻

Nice timing for this one as I just started learning it. As someone mentioned, nice touch on moving the main riff around. I may employ that as well. You definitely made it easier for me to get the solo and fills now with tabs. Cheers!

The harmonisation in the background, then the main riff with different positions. Thank you Ben! ❤

No shit. I was never much of a guitarist (ask anyone), but early on (like, around 1983-ish) someone showed me how to play this. (News flash: Knowing HOW to play something and actually being good at it and fluent are two different worlds. I had neither). The following day I showed it to a metal guitarist who was quite adept at most of the killer guitar solos of the day. His response? "You gotta be f***ing KIDDING me!" As a side note, Phil Collen (Def Leppard) was discussing Steve Clark's prowess with creating the killer riffs that defined that band's sound and cemented their success. He used the intro sequence of Gods of War as an example, citing that it was actually the main riff from Message In A Bottle turned inside-out by Steve. I would never have guessed...

Andy Summers is underrated and sometimes unknowned by the new generations. I can hear (see also!) in the coda you are "harmonising"the riff, which, I think, could please Andy.

Amazing the influence you can hear from them in some Leppard songs. Not just off of hysteria but definitely on high n dry as well

Great job Ben! I see what you mean by the hand and fingers. Your tone was spot on as usual.

This is just one of those songs that you can swing, and the drums in this song are busy. Stewart Copeland, Sting and Andy Summers were something else man. After all, I mean... Every little thing they've done is magic.
