The Polish Police - stop!

I've only been stopped for speeding once in Poland, near Terespol. The police had a radar trap set up in a nice spot where I'm sure they can generate a lot of revenue :) They were very polite, with none of the aggressive, confrontational attitude that you unfortunately often see from police in the US. They had me come with them to the police van and I paid for the ticket right there with my debit card. Very convenient!

What exactly did the cops do to stop you? In other words, did they wave those lizaks at you and nightsticks from the side of the road, or did they follow you waving them at you, or how was this done, please? In America, cops follow you with lights on and sirens blaring.

Agreed :) Be nice and cooperative and they may well respond in kind and let you off the hook. It can often work this way in administrative offices as well. Dobry i przydatny odcinek :)

Thanks for the brush up class. Although I live in the states. My family are polish and German decent. So I spoke polski German and Russian as a youngster. I'm now 50, but I miss speaking in mother tongue.

The only speeding ticket I have gotten in my life was back in 2003, just south of Warsawa, because it went from 60kph to a 30kph in like 10m. There was also a tour bus pulled over in front of us, and they had the passengers off in the ditch. And yes, they had military rifles on them, just like the guard in the airport. Make sure you have international drivers license (which translates the fields on foreign licences to a standard format). I didn't speak polish but my fiance did (though she's Highlander but living in the US for decades, so her polish is not great anymore haha) Cost me one Benjamin cash ($100 USD which was 4:1 zloty at the time) and a warning ticket. I got lucky because a garbage truck drove by, and was dropping trash on the road, so the officer waived to a partner and went after that guy. LMAO

One question: How exactly do they stop people in Poland? Do the police in Poland wave those lizaks? Do they wave those lighted night sticks at you? Do they follow you waving the lizaks and nightsticks before telling you to pull over? What is the exact procedure please?

Drogówka (road/traffic department) they use them. They can pull you over with this as well. Lizaki and something like torches at night.

Polska policja drogowa to misiaczki w stosunku do np Czechów. Jak zatrzymują to się przedstawiają, zagadują uprzejmie i są spokojni. Zawsze. Z Czechami to różnie bywa....

Sounds like how it is in most places unless you’re a dick. There’s always bad cops sometimes but usually just don’t be an asshole.
