Ok, but it's a quality vs quantity thing, yes, you get more popcorn for the same price if you don't put butter on it, however, having butter on it more than doubles the quality of the popcorn, value is more than the price per kernel value includes how good each kernel is, and if you don't agree that butterless popcorn is as worthless as it is to me, then go ahead and eat your sad popcorn, however I would much rather eat two buckets of buttered popcorn than 10 buckets of butterless

As someone who at 2:30 in the morning had nothing else I could eat in the house or at least make quickly I didn't have butter or salt on my popcorn and it was like eating styrofoam so the butter and salt are force multipliers when it comes to the taste of popcorn.

Chilled also isnt accounting for the cost of the butter that the theaters just eat. The butter is free for us but the theaters still have to pay for it. Adding butter to the popcorn literally brings down the over all PPK. To the point where two buttered buckets are probably going to be about the same PPK to the theater as the 3 unbuttered buckets.

I don't think the theater here lets me get a second refill, but they will let you buy a bucket even if you don't pay for a movie. And they do have the choice to add butter at the halfway mark when filling your bucket. When doctoting my Popcorn, I'm generous with the butter and salt, my family loves the way I doctor it. Is it healthy? No, but we only go to the theaters once every 2-4 months. It's an indulgence food item for rare occasions, not a routine or regular diet food.

In all the cinemas I've been to, none of them offered free refills (UK) and if you wanted more you paid for it As for price, the last time I went it cost about £5-7 for a medium iirc, but that was about 8 months ago so the price has probably skyrocketed by now Buttered popcorn is the best popcorn imo but not all cinemas have it, and now I've got a craving for it

It is a membership perk or for special occasions, such as your birthday or National Popcorn Day, depending on the theater company for the special occasions. AMC is a company that I KNOW does it. Certain theaters will allow one free refill even if not a member. A theater by my house even does free refills of ICEEs, it's unlimited.

There was a Regal theater where I grew up that would to free refills, but only for the large size popcorn. They’d also put butter in the middle of the container as well on request. I don’t think we had any particular memberships, so the game plan was to eat as much during the film, then refill on the way out. The real challenge with the kernel density plan is that you need to eat two full large containers of popcorn in 2 hours for it to work! Although on leaving I don’t see any reason to not get butter on the second refill, as that one is taken at a leisurely pace.

I sorta realized that popcorn refills aren't common but can attest that the Galaxy theaters allow for refills of their largest sized popcorn and soda (and yes, i *think* one could probably get away with going in and getting a refill if you kept a popcorn tub but that's probably like the refill policy of some gas stations and more about if the workers will care or not)

Okay, this is what we do get more free popcorn. When we get our bucket, we butter it up, put some salt in a napkin, and go find our seats. When waiting for the popcorn or waiting in line, I grab two cardboard boxes that they have to hold your foods. I grab two, for me and mom or me and kiddo. Then that's when I get more popcorn before the movie starts. And if I'm feeling cheeky, I will get my third and last bucket of popcorn before I go home. And we are AMC member. PPK doesnt account for the PPBO (Price per Butter Ounce). You have 2 different values to account for per Bucket

At $9 for refillable popcorn as chilleds example he technically pays $3 per bucket without butter and $4.50 with butter meaning the PPB (price per butter) would be $1.50 per bucket and if you wanted to calculate how much per ounce of butter you would need to figure out how much butter is being added which would need to be adjusted based on the butter to popcorn ratio and all of that would help determine if the butter is actually worth getting or not

The only free refills of popcorn I ever heard about was paying a crazy high amount for basically a super large tub but by the time you were done you were to full to even go back for a 2nd fill. If you got a regular large you didn't get a refill without paying for another large. So for the super large which was just a large container you would pay say $25 and a regular large would be say $13. I haven't been to a theatre in probably 25+ years so I can't remember the prices but the super large price was never worth it
