Very nice and your comparisons get better every time. Happy to see that you take under account the comments and make improvements. Installed pcars2 recently and have only tried the bmw 1m for a couple of hours. Some notes for my 2cents: PC2 is very sensitive on small setup changes and thats good. For example you noticed for the Porsche how it is unstable under braking. Same was the bmw and reason was that with heavy breaking the back was getting light. Stiffen back springs so it does not lift, change break balance from 67-33 to 60-40, reduce little camber from the back and increase coast on diff and boom, your car is now stable. Also found ffb (i use an osw) bit better on pc, as strange as this sounds. Also get better sense of speed on pc, i think it has to do with tarmac textures. With ac you can most of the times jump in and drive, from what i've seen so far this is not the case with pc, you need to tweak it first. I also liked how stability control was really annoying getting in the way on the limit, on ac does not bother me. I play ac almost exclusively but pc2 is a nice surprise so far.

ABSOLUTELY amazing driving and love your setup. What kind of sim rig setup is that? A real dashboard/wheel cutout from a real Beamer or do these sim rig makers actually provide this amazingly realistic car/dash/wheel interior you can order? Looks great. First video I came across of yours. Had to sub. Sounds like you own this Porsche GT3 RS by how you talk and I take it you've tested it the same as these sims at SPA? If so, that is so sweet. Yes these simulators are getting closer and closer to the real thing. We have truly entered into a virtual world when it comes to driving these real world cars. Great drifting as well. You learn a lot of driving skills from these sims. Can't wait to see more of your video collections. Glad you speak fluent english as well. Keep up the great work..

Nice video! It's awesome to see the sims are so close. Fonsecker has a wonderful sound mod for the GT3RS which has a bit more bass in the sound, but is less raspy than the PC2 sound. If you have not tried it, do so! :^)

Those tire pressure settings for AC I believe were high, The tires in AC really like 30-31psi hot pressure on all corners so setting the base pressure at 29 front and 33 rear is just going to give you too much pressure (and likely not enough temperature). Looking around the internet to see what people in the real world run these tires at cold for track day use and it looks like around 24psi cold for Trofeo R. So you might want to try to run them in both games playing around with tire pressures cold, actually in AC to get your ideal hot pressure turn tire blankets on. With the built in tire app set your cold pressure and AC with tire blankets will warm tires to optimum temps and you can see what the pressures are. Tire color green and pressure numbers green is what you want to see, you would be even faster (or should be).
@TheExtraMile
@TheExtraMile 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input Duane! From what I know 2,0 bar (29 psi) for the fronts and 2,3 bar (33 psi for the rears) are pretty much what you would use in real life. But I will try to get some verified real data for the next test!
@doc7000
@doc7000 7 жыл бұрын
It all comes down to the tires and intended use, for example a DOT track tire you would run 33-35PSI (this can differ greatly by tire) for street use. This is because you don't generate much heat in regular street use, however for track use you will generate lots of heat and depending on what DOT track tire you are running hot pressures can be 29-33. Though if it is 29psi hot then you should probably run something like 22-24 cold psi. If it is asking for 29psi hot for the fronts and you set that cold then you will run too much pressure once you get temps in your tires. For example at the end of your PC2 session your fronts were 36 and your rears were 44. www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/pirelli-trofeo-r-tires.419470/ Here is a forum I found with a Ferrari 458 talking about the tire pressure for his car at the track, he is running Trofeo R tires. For those tires seem to be 29-30psi hot so probably start at about 24psi cold to get it there, I believe this is suppose to be the tire that is used in PC2. I know for Assetto Corsa when I get it to 29-30psi on the tire pressure app it turns green so they are probably the similar tires just different names.

How does PC2 simulate car systems such as rear wheel steer? In ac you can see the rear wheels of the gt3rs turn slightly through corners if you view it in replay with an external camera. Regardless project cars 2 is a huge improvement over the original.

The Extra Mile thx man wish i had the space, knowledge and time to build something like this. What kind of pc are you using to play this? Is AC of PC2 the game to go for? GT Sport is failing in so many reviews so..
@TheExtraMile
@TheExtraMile 7 жыл бұрын
I am using the following specs: Windows 10 64-bit on Kingston Predator SSD, Asus X99 Sabertooth, Intel Core i7 6800k @ 3.93GHz, 16,0 GB G.Skill DDR4 @ 3333 MHz, Gigabyte GX1080 Extreme Gaming with 8gb of vram, Soundblaster Z, Oculus Rift CV1 At this point in time I would go for PC2, but a big part of that are the years of playing AC that are behind me. PC2 is something new which makes it automatically more interesting to me than the sim that I have been using for years. But even objectively speaking it is the "better" choice at this point in time I think. Great track selection, very solid car selection, great physics engine (although not as intuitive as AC when you go over the limit), great sounds and visuals, etc. AC surely will remain king for a lot of people, but I personally drive more PC2 than AC at the moment. I have watched the GT Sport reviews with great interest! It certainly is the best looking car game out there. The attention to detail of the models is astonishing and the shaders and visuals are tuned to perfection. The replays in GT Sport seem almost photorealistic at times. They also seemed to have greatly improved the engine sounds, although they still fall behind the industry leaders and rank somewhere in the middle I´d say. Physics are definitely more on the simcade side, but I actually wouldn´t mind that too much. Sure, I would love a more realistic physics engine with tire flex etc. but I can live with solid simcade in Gran Turismo. However the BIIIIIIIIG thing that makes GT Sport a complete letdown for me, is that they have killed the thing about GT that is fun. Owning, modifying and racing your "own" cars. THAT is what made GT great for me, and that is completely off the menu. Anyway, looong story short: I would choose PC2 at the moment over pretty much anything else.
@dankoekebacker3919

Yes i feel thesame about GT Sport. I played those games from the first GT on ps1. I don't know why they did what they did with Sport but it is a shame compared to the previous titles. So i have a laptop, a MSI I7 processor with 4 gig Ram Windows 10 and a GTX950 aboard. Would this play a game like PC2? I mostly game on PS4 so i probaly will get it for console because i like graphics as high as possible. Still need a good wheel as well. Still searching for that. Thx for the big reply

@TheExtraMile

Thank you Jimmy! The wheel depends a little bit on the size of your budget. At the low end you have wheels like the Thrustmaster VG Ferrari 458 Spider Racing Wheel, you can get that for about 90 bucks. You won´t have a clutch or h shifter but it certainly is a start and better than a gamepad. If you have a bit more to spend then there is the Logitech G920 which costs around 270 bucks. It has a lot more force than the cheaper wheel and is overall of better quality. You also get a clutch pedal and can get an h-shifter for 50 bucks extra. I would highly recommend to check out reviews of the wheels before you buy. Check out this video for example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3ncf2htob-qe7M

by comparing the steering movement between them, PC2 looks too "busy" handwork than real life. AC looks "less aggressive" and closer to real life.. I've both, but what I feel PC2 seems too much oversteer and so frustrating to handle. From your videos I found out real life footages looks like kinda not that "as hard to drive as PC2". Thank you for your videos by the way, giving so many informations, nice job!

Thank you for watching! I think that they have included some physics fixes in the last patches, or that I am starting to get used to the sim in general maybe. I think the cars are a lot better to drive now in general than they were in the days after release. But maybe that is placebo or something. In the case of the GT3 I found the AC one to be a bit more unstable under accelaration and the PC2 one to be a bit nervous under braking.

Hot Dang! Love that Porsche! Thanks, Alex, for another great show! Why do you set it up as a race with another car, and not use Testing? Isn't there some chance that the opponent will mess with your best time? And if you think about it, you have one definite advantage over the real car... he has to worry about wrecking a very expensive car. that's going to affect his time, even if just by a little.

The mirrors react to your headposition in PC2 which is awesome! Other than that they look pretty much the same. Nice. During the lap in pC2 you lost a huge amount of time on Kemmel straight. As someone said, Spa might not be the best track to do time comparisons because driving fast at Spa needs skills and bravery. From both real life and sim drivers. Therefore small differences in mid-corner performance costs a lot of time there. Also it was a bit strange you decided to copy the tyre pressures pC2 uses for Pirelli tyre into AC's wannabe-Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. Doesn't make perfect sense to me because both are obviously very different tyres regardless of the similarities in performance. :)
@TheExtraMile
@TheExtraMile 7 жыл бұрын
Hey there! Thanks for the input and watching :) The tire pressures are a funny thing in AC it seems. The pressures you set in PC2 seem to correlate what you set as a cold pressure in real life. 2.0 for the fronts and 2.3 for the rear seems to be realistic and in line with real life. When I did the comparison before people complained that I did not equalize tire pressures between the two sims and that AC uses very low pressures by default. I just wanted to take that factor out of the comparison this time and use equal tire pressures in both sims.
@Putkijumala
@Putkijumala 7 жыл бұрын
The Extra Mile I see what you mean but if the tyres both sims are simulating are different, I see no point equalizing the pressures. On the other hand it's not perfectly clear what tyres AC want to replicate. For 488 GTB the sidewall texture shows Hankook Evo's, tread is from Michelin and the OEM tyre would be Pilot Super Sport so... :)

i thought AC felt better to drive. Specially when you do a lap on the Nurburgring. In AC doing a lap at the ring in this car feels pretty incredible and actually one of the most realistic sensations of driving that I've ever experienced in a driving sim. I do like pCARS 2, but something feels quite unnatural about the driving in it at times. I think its because the visual sense of speed isn't there, so nothing feels and looks natural when driving. The cars also roll around slow bends in a really awkward manor sometimes that just feels weird. Neither game is perfect and i dont think 'perfect' can ever be achieved anyway, but for me AC just feels mor natural to drive. I think AC 2 will be incredible.

Hmm that is pretty low! 21 psi is only 1,4 bar, I have never heard of such a low recommended setting. A quick search on the internet delivered a recommended pressure of 2.0 bar for the front and 2.1 for the rear. Maybe you meant 2,1 bar with the 21?

Mir ist aufgefallen, das du bei AC nie das FFB der Autos selbst einstellst. Das ist aber gerade die wichtigste Einstellung. Wenn Du Fragen dazu hast schieß los.
@TheExtraMile
@TheExtraMile 6 жыл бұрын

@TheExtraMile
@TheExtraMile 6 жыл бұрын

@Marauder1981
@Marauder1981 6 жыл бұрын
Noch vergessen, die FFB Kraft des eigenen Lenkrads auf ca. 39% einstellen. Falls Du das überhaupt direkt am Lenkrad einstellen kannst.

There is a lot of things are missing on comparison videos. If you drive a car in nfs2 slowly u can easily compare with real life on straight road. It doesn't make any sense. Does not mean it's realism. You can easily follow irl car lines on any race games. We need real tests. I can not find any moose test videos for ac or pc2. If possible please push physics on real car with steering and compare with assetto corsa so you can see ac has really worst steering which unrealistic. I love pc2's grip on asphalt. Brake so bad no abs on ac, cant control car when u brake with supercar.

Great video , interesting ! In general AC driving model is too keen to slide , even if rotation is less over done than PC, it's fun, but PC is getting a wee bit closer to the truth I think.
@TheExtraMile
@TheExtraMile 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I would agree. Maybe the cold tire grip loss is a bit overdone in AC? It seemed to get better with more heat in the tires. But even then it was maybe sliding a tiny bit too much. I was generally surprised how close the two sims were though.
@SingleRacerSVR
@SingleRacerSVR 7 жыл бұрын
I'd like to ask another CRAZY? question Alex, but only because you do so much online racing with Lambo. So I agree that AC doesn't do "cold tire grip loss" that well. But one weird thing I have noticed in the servers online, is that I SWEAR that I can sense a thing, that can only be described as "heat soak". Meaning that I pick ABC car, that had XYZ cold tire temps. But after about 4-5 laps of Nords online, I absolutely swear that I have MORE GRIP, even when I go back to the pits, and check that those XYZ tire temps are still the same in cold form. It's as if somehow AC replicates the rest of the car getting warm. Meaning /brakes/engine/exhaust? - it just feels like the rest of the car has more feel to it, after those 3-5 run-in laps, even though the tire temps show the same pressures & coldness, when reloading from the pits............................ is this crazy, Alex?
@TheExtraMile
@TheExtraMile 7 жыл бұрын
Hmm good point there Michael! I would have to check this scenario out to make a judgement here. Could be a bug (tire temps not resetting when you go into the pits)? I will watch out for this the next time I drive Assetto Corsa, I am really curious now to see if I can replicate it :)

Ithink PC2 physics is much better and driving is much more fun. Driving in Asseto Corsa feels like a soap on wet ice, too much overstter on low speeds.. it's too annoying. PC2 is far better. But there are things I don't like in PC2 - no lap by lap statistic after race (it's very stupid), no mods... PC2 is not modding-friendly game

You keep saying the car is well balanced and has tons of grip in PC2 but how come I see you sliding it all over the place? And don't get me started about the braking.
@TheExtraMile
@TheExtraMile 7 жыл бұрын
Hmm I wouldn´t say the car is sliding all over the place by any standard. And having a good amount of lateral grip does not mean that the car won´t slide anyway. It just means that it takes a bit more effort to unsettle the chassis. Agree about the braking though, that felt way too unstable in PC2.

Just did a 7:11 on the Nordschleife with this car (place 8 in the PC2-leaderboards) and there is where it really shines and AC IMO fails. Both tyre-models are similar on flat tracks, but with bumps... You prefer more front-biased brake balance than me i noticed in another video and glad we can change this in road-cars in PC2. I love it further back and don't like many street-cars in AC just for this reason alone, most ridiculous with the R8.

Thanks, but i wasn't even pushing that much and 10 sec. away from the record. But i'm p1 with the Sauber C9 so far😋. I mostly try to drive as safe as i expect a professional driver would do, who don't want to make a fool of himself while crashing and take a predictable risk. Alien-laptimes should be faster for that reason and the C9 in AC is just ridiculous in handling and character. The best alien is 5 sec. behind Bellof and this track is certainly less bumpy today with a far more grippy tarmac. And the same with the 962C or the hole GT3-cars, that are even faster in real life without reaching the top-speeds in AC anymore by 15-20 km/h. I had the discussion with Lord Kunos himself and they seem to be happy when aliens reach the real lap times. About two years back i got suspended at the AC-forum for suggesting, they should better try and learn from the Nordschleife-AC-RIP for rF2 than hunting every source down. The tyre-flex was the difference two years ago and PC2 feels similar, just without the jerky cars in rF2. Kunos really deserve PC2.

Look people.. there is no comparison between the 2 in FFB. AC allows a multitude of any changes that you want. PJC2 NOT even close. And btw you spend all that money to have a full dash board with your wheel.. but yet you use VR so you can't see it? ... 😗
@TheExtraMile
@TheExtraMile 7 жыл бұрын
I would agree that the AC FFB is overall superior and especially works better right out of the box. PC2 took a lot of fiddling to get it to feel right. The real cockpit as a simrig has always been a dream of mine, long before VR came into the picture. I do love using it in VR too though, because the shifter is in the right position, I can use the armrest and rest my leg on the center console like in real life. The best part about it is the full sized steering wheel though. It fits great for most cars that I drive and helps a lot in VR.

I think you should give it a shot Bunka! It might be "worse" in a few aspects, but it is better in a lot of others. Especially the tire model is really, really good. Interesting, I tried the Steam Demo and was hugely disappointed, the sound was good but the (only two available) track cars I tried just seemed to drift with no feedback of grip loss so it was hard to tell when on the limit like AC. I had PC1 and that was very bad. Maybe the settings on PC2 demo were locked so it felt arcadey ? I will see if I can try the full game , thanks
