Reasons:- As the narrator started going to an English school he was being taught English words and western science like law of gravity etc. with which the grandmother didn't agree with and also she could no more help his grandson in studies as she has no idea about it. Also she felt pity for the fact that his grandson was not given lessons on God and scriptures.
