I think we all need a little positivity in our lives. As a fellow teacher, it is a great feeling when our students do well. I have Horrorstor on my Kindle, I got it because of FOMO, I've liked all the selections I've tried so far from the group. MY Mum was a big fan of Terry Pratchett, I remember queuing in Waterstones in Worcester some time in the noughties to get a book signed by him for her, sadly they have both passed now.

Teaching is so very rewarding! I am so glad that you have enjoyed the FOMO book selections, Jim. I am looking forward to talking about Horrorstör at the end of the month. Amazing that you got to meet Terry Pratchett and get a signed book for your mum - that must have meant the world to her. I have one signed copy of a Terry Pratchett book from my days as a bookseller and it is one of my most precious things.

Put all the Aaron Becker’s books I could find at my library on hold. Excited to look through his work. Also, there’s nothing like a beautiful field of flowers - brings so much joy!

October makes me happy because it is Halloween month. I love seeing Halloween decorations, watching Halloween related movies and shows, and reading horror novels (I don't restrict my horror reading to October, but there is something special about reading horror in October).
@spreadbookjoy9 күн бұрын
I know exactly what you mean. October is one of my absolute favourite reading months. I love all of the seasons but I am a huge fan of summer, so it takes me a while to accept when it is over but by October I am usually fully on board with all of the autumnal loveliness that is happening. I am definitely in that mode right now! Enjoying some horror and some cosy reading as well and feeling all the spooky season joy! Happy reading!

Such a wonderful video, Jack! Gareth is indeed a gem. I loved hearing you talk about all of these books and other topics in your life. I have Horrorstor and have not read it yet, but you’ve convinced me to do so. I have been on a Matt Haig kick myself lately. I’m so glad that you’re having another meet-up. The photos and videos I’ve seen from your past meet-ups have been such a joy to behold. I know that you must be a wonderful teacher-of children and of teachers! Lovely, lovely video, Jack! ❤

Thank you so much, Pat! I will definitely share some photos and videos of the day when we all meet up - I am really looking forward to it. I hope you are enjoying the Matt Haig books. I always enjoy his books but I think How to Stop Time is probably my favourite of his fiction and Reasons to Stay Alive is my favourite of his non-fiction. And thank you for your kind words - I always feel emotional when I talk about my students and their achievements. Teaching is such a wonderfully rewarding career as you well know!

@@spreadbookjoy I just picked up How to Stop Time from the library! I also started Horrorstor last night! Can’t wait to see the newest meet-up pictures, though I imagine that some parts of this gathering will also be bittersweet. I was supposed to do a mini-meet up here for the Philadelphia Book Crawl with MJ, Greg at Another Bibliophile Reads and Hannah of Hannahsbooks, but I was sick. It looked like they had a wonderful time, though. 🥰

Thanks so much for the lovely words - and I really love our friendship too. I think about you a lot and I'm gutted that I can't go to the meet up this time in a few weeks. I loved the Grady Hendrix book that I read, so I'm not surprised Horrorstor is really good. Love the idea of seeing Studio Ghibli live. Love hearing about your job, and the way you talk about teaching is really inspiring and awesome. Every answer to the prompt was fantastic - big hugs Jack xx

It was such a lovely tag to do so thanks so much for tagging me in it. Such a shame you won’t be at the next meet up but I am sure we shall catch up again soon. I am thinking of doing more live streams and chats with friends - it is always so much fun and a good way to catch up regularly. I shall be in touch once I figure out my plans…

Love this tag 🧶📚 Also, not every reader is for every author. I love pratchett, he is my favourite author, Matt Haig may not be for me but I also understand, everyone is different and gets different things from what they read. I've tried and not got on with Matt Haig, but I'm glad you did. I mentioned him to someone else when I was half way through how to stop time and still intrigued as something they may like, I then told them when I finished and wasn't so keen but they still picked it up and they now have a new author they like. Also incredibly envious for you seeing the live shows for studio Ghibli (I have also always mispronounced it) it's on our to do list but fitting it and it probably meaning a full family weekend in London .... May take some convincing cos of the price.
@spreadbookjoy9 күн бұрын
Yes, there is always a reader for every author - so true! That is why I try to steer clear of rant reviews on my channel (though I have had the occasional salty opinion on my live streams - oops) because someone out there will find some joy in a book even if you don’t personally. I really hope you get to see the Studio Ghibli live some day. It is terribly expensive, especially if you are booking as a family, but if you can manage to do it, you won’t regret it. Absolute magic!
