When my mom and I were really struggling, and we had no furniture in our place except a folding table, two chairs, and a couple of blow-up mattresses, my mom would plug some speakers into her laptop and blast this in the morning for us to dance to before I left for school. There was 6 month span in 8th grade when it was just us, and my dad was still in Costa Rica, trying to sell our house. But my mom's "morning mixes" kept every hard day starting good..... I love this song.

One of my favourite things about KZbin is reading the comments sections of song videos and seeing other people’s memories associated with the song in question. The memories are as vast as the people who share them but speaks to the ways we can all connect with one another as people. 😊

I think because it's a mix (electronica/singer-songwriter) that not many have dabbled in. I mean I can only think of David Gray, Duncan Sheik, and Everything But the Girl off the top of my head as far as acts that have successfully blended the two. I'm sure there are others but it was something I hoped to hear more of but not a lot of artists have done it.

This brings me back to driving the family on vacation with my little girls singing along in the back seat. I never realized how lucky I was and how fleeting those great moments really were. They are both married adults with lives and family’s of their own now. I’d crawl through broken glass to just look in the rear view and see their little heads bouncing to this song again.

Randomly saw an article on Google today noting how The Postal Service only dropped one album ever, and I was like “wait why does that name sound familiar??” Man this song reminds me on my night drives in my friend’s car when we were in high school with the sense of untouchability and profound wonder that the world had left to offer. Beautiful how music can take you to specific times in your lives.

One of my most fond memories of high school. I was a theater kid, and we used this song in Romeo + Juliet. When Romeo and Juliet meet for the first time, the ball room of people dancing just froze and this opening played. We nailed that scene. So much fun. Crazy to think we've been out of school longer than we were in, feels like yesterday.

LYRICS HERE! I am thinking it's a sign That the freckles in our eyes Are mirror images And when we kiss they're perfectly aligned And I have to speculate That God Himself did make Us into corresponding shapes Like puzzle pieces from the clay And true it may seem like a stretch But it's thoughts like this that catch My troubled head when you're away And when I am missing you to death And when you are out there on the road For several weeks of shows And when you scan the radio I hope this song will guide you home They will see us waving from such great heights Come down now, they'll say But everything looks perfect from far away Come down now but we'll stay I tried my best to leave This all on your machine But the persistent beat It sounded thin upon the sending And that frankly will not fly You'll hear the shrillest highs And lowest lows with the windows down And this is guiding you home They will see us waving from such great heights Come down now they'll say But everything looks perfect from far away Come down now but we'll stay They will see us waving from such great heights Come down now they'll say But everything looks perfect from far away Come down now but we'll stay They will see us waving from such great heights (Come down now)

Everything’s alright for me lol it became not alright then I found comfort in not being alright thus I became alright. I don’t romanticize the past because life is beautiful and the passage of time and change is inevitable. There’s a way to help yourself you just have to find it. Edit: you also have to realize that because of your youthful innocence you weren’t aware of things not being as good as they seem. This has been my TedxTalk

This song meant everything to me in 2014, there are just certain indie songs that helped me drag my ass to school and this song helped me deal with depression. It was the song of freedom and love for me, as I had just graduated high school, the summer this was released. I was working at Papa John's Pizza and in an undefined relationship with a girl at the time. She and I just clicked in first period on the first day of freshman year and had been best friends since. That summer, as I delivered pizzas around town, this song filled my car as the thoughts of young love and friendship filled my mind and heart. Her and I had a chance of becoming more than friends, but as the summer ended, so did we, entirely. Everytime I listen to this song, I'm transported back to being 18, singing along with my friends, feeling the glow of uncertain love, and the freedom of a full tank of gas. I have no regrets of the past as they have made me who I am. This song is a reminder to me to always enjoy the moment.

what's truly amazing about this song is that it still feels new, even twenty years after its release-learning this song is older than me was surprising! the instrumental is extremely reminiscent of indie pop from the 2010s, and that goes to show that this song, and album as a whole, has been influential for the many musical acts that followed it.

The nostalgia that comes with this song is served bittersweet. I feel a slight comfort and deep sadness while having a weird smirk on my face as this song takes me back to being a pre-teen, not having a single serious worry in the world and full of hope for what the future held. 20 years later, it hurts so much thinking of those times while I almost smile about it too. I miss my childhood house, my old room, my family, all of my friends, and the overall happiness life seemed back then. Life is not bad for me now, but I do really struggle with nostalgia as time seems to distort itself as we get older. Remember to stop and take a mental snapshot if you feel it may be "one of the good moments".
