The Potential of Fishing is INSANE in Stardew Valley 1.6

Fishing makes SO MUCH MONEY in Stardew Valley 1.6... The update that came out last month introduced many new ways of boosting the efficiency of existing sources of income in Stardew Valley. Included in these ways was the slew of new items that blow the previous potential profit of fishing out of the water, and that's what I'm going to be talking about today.

You forgot to mention that, if you read the Gems of the Sea book, you will have a chance of getting roe in a treasure chest while fishing, so there's a little added bonus money

You can farm legend II for 3 days if you have mr. qi's extended family quest active. An iridium quality smoked legend II sells for 42 000g if you have both artisan and angler. With the new fishing rod, you can use quality bobber and trap bobber at the same time, making it easier to catch an iridum qualiity legendary fish.

I got my Bait Maker on day 4. It is bonkers insane. You don't need to restock on bait anymore and you'll catch almost exclusively Largemouth Bass, Bullhead and Catfish. Getting 45+ of the best value fish available in a single day is busted. The Smoker is nice, but unless you are playing on a Riverlands farm you are probably better off heading to Skull Cavern before getting it.

I just use mussels you get on ginger Island in those rocks for fish crafting, if it's not a specific recipe anyway.

Ever since unlocking fishing mastery, i became determined to improve my fishing skill. I saw a glimpse of possiblity to catch multiple legendary fish using the challenge bait. I'm struggling but i know it's possible, for the angler at least.

Or they could just buff wild bait a little bit, increasing the bite rate to match wouldn't be out of the question imo

Its the best to use as standard bait, but it is the worst option for practical use. You can start with training rod to get the fibreglass rod unlocked quick, use standard bait, and make sure to repair the ocean bridge asap, smelt up some iron on day 5 or 6, and you can make your bait maker, which is exponentially better than deluxe bait in terms of value, from there just cross your fingers for rain as you can catch 50+ catfish if you fish all day during spring rain with dressed spinners and catfish bait. Lategame you can do qi quest with legend II bait or maybe some challenge bait stuff. Tl;dr you can optimally do the entire fishing progressuon without buying or crafting any deluxe bait
