Thanks so much for the great tips, Aaron. I have been researching dual fuel, portable generators, and want to buy one. I love the extension cord thought the wall, and the surge protectors....what a great idea! It sure beats having wires running in through my doors or windows. I saw some through the wall outlets, for generators, on a Costco website, but they were expensive, Brenda.

My first time wanting to get a generator. I don’t have a transfer switch for the generator so I’m going with the route you’re using. When you say grounded with the extension cord what exactly do you mean? I hear that the generator has to be grounded using this method.

@@nathanielstuckey3354I’m not familiar with electrical stuff so an electrician will do the set up. Thank you!

There is a grounding point on my generator...and I suppose I should use it...but I never have. The extension cord has a grounded plug and the house is grounded. Good point.

Oh...wait a minute. Now you have me thinking. Sure, my house is grounded BUT in this configuration I'm not connected to the house's ground. This is a real good point. I absolutely should have the generator grounded. I could easily install a grounding rod in the brush near where I run the generator. Cheap insurance. Thank you for this comment 😀.
