I don't have a whole-house generator. When the power goes out, I need a way to route power from my generator into the house. In this video, I describe how I designed a way to do this.

Thanks so much for the great tips, Aaron. I have been researching dual fuel, portable generators, and want to buy one. I love the extension cord thought the wall, and the surge protectors....what a great idea! It sure beats having wires running in through my doors or windows. I saw some through the wall outlets, for generators, on a Costco website, but they were expensive, Brenda.

My first time wanting to get a generator. I don’t have a transfer switch for the generator so I’m going with the route you’re using. When you say grounded with the extension cord what exactly do you mean? I hear that the generator has to be grounded using this method.
