I agree with your definition of inner beauty. You are beautiful within and without. I want to mention though that people need to be psychologically whole and healthy before they can have the ability to have the qualities that you are describing. So the most beautiful thing we can do if we are not in that place of healthy self esteem is to go on the path to creating that. Lovely video.

Inner beauty is a pretty vague and nebulous concept, but the list sums it up pretty well.

@@PhilosophyWithLilly Thank you for asking! I listened so many times the video about being cultured, also professionalisms 101. I love them. And I will be happy if you share how do you embrace finer things in life, your countercultural habits to adopt culture and culture of different people, your steps in becoming a sophisticated lady. And also you speak about conflict resolution, I will be happy to know how you will interact with people who don't want to listen to other's people explanations, or with those who always talk bossy but always tell this is with good intentions. And the most important thing that I want to share with you is that you are a treasure! Thank you for inspiring me! There rarely such people like you and I dream to be surrounded by sophisticated and cultured people in real life.

These are all so important! I love your content so much! I adore the elegance and femininity community but I agree that they can focus too much on the exterior. These qualities are much, much more important! I am going to start a KZbin channel to talk about a lot of these same topics you do. I have wanted to for such a long time. I think there’s such a crucial message to share here, especially to the young women of today. I am 24. I encourage you sister in your channel and hope you can check me out one day when I finally upload videos. Have an amazing 2023!

“No one less than Nietzsche can pass for a beautiful soul [in the Hegelian sense]. His soul is extremely beautiful, but not in the sense of a beautiful soul; no one more than him has a sense of cruelty, a taste for destruction.” (Deleuze) I would agree: Nietzsche’s soul is not just unmistakably beautiful but “extremely beautiful.” But it’s not because his soul would have been a harmonious whole for example -- nor due to consideration of others. --- Some random thoughts I had while watching this video: 1. Contemporary cultures value beauty, narrowly defined, above most things. In calling admirable personality traits beautiful (rather than virtuous, for example), are we challenging that beauty-centrism (by extending our understanding of beauty beyond the surface) - or rather reinforcing it, and in particular reinforcing the notion that what matters most about women is their beauty? 2a. There are beautiful melodies, tapestries, landscapes, poems. But these examples all have something in common: pleasure of the senses. Insofar as beauty is primarily connected with the aesthetic, is it the best heading for moral virtues and the like, which are not primarily sensuous? 2b. Ordinary speech does call even non-sensible things beautiful. This is probably because these things still have some pleasing arrangement, a delightful configuration, which meets some standard of excellence: a faint reminder of the “harmony” that we find exemplified by a pretty face. (It is probably something like this that also makes Nietzsche’s soul so beautiful to Deleuze.) But do the traits listed in this clip provide such a pleasing arrangement? 3. How tenable is the inner vs. outer distinction? Much in physical beauty is expressive of personality: a genuine smile can convey a joyful disposition; clothing choices can reflect good taste and express values. In this sense, so-called outer beauty is also inner. Inversely, a lot of the inner beauty described in this video consists of interpersonal virtues, shown to others “on the outside.” For me personally, much of inner beauty is truly inner (then again, is it “beauty,” and is it “truly inner”?), in the sense that it has to do with how someone thinks and feels, how their mind works, irrespective of relations to others. “Elegant opinions” would be closest to what I mean. 4. Stendhal wrote that beauty is a promise of happiness. Adorno later appropriated Stendhal’s statement for his aesthetic theory, and the link between beauty and happiness is also affirmed by Wittgenstein (“Und das Schöne ist eben das, was glücklich macht.”). But what is happiness? Note to self: A distrust of happiness is one good reason to prefer some other concept to beauty - both when describing artworks and when describing a person’s “interior.” Though I hate to disagree with Deleuze, since his interiority was extremely gorgeous :)
