I'm planning on customizing my 5 string bass as well, with custom handwounded pickups, but I can't seem to choose between the John East Uni Preamp 5 knob and the Aguilar OBP-3. I think they both sound truly amazing an so fat. Congrats for this demo, cheers!

@joegone9772
@joegone9772 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the quick reply! This is what John sent me - I suggest keep the EMG pickups for now, I'm certain they're very good, always best to change just one thing at a time. If you change two, anything good or bad, it's not clear which new part is responsible. I would retain the EMG volumes with the push-pulls, we don't have push-pulls for the pickups with any of our preamps. The top of our range is the UNI-PRE if you aren't getting enough of what you want from the Tone Pump, but EQ only for your bass, a bit of a special. You would need someone who knows bass electronics to wire it in for you. See here, ignore the volume/blend and passive tone. www.east-uk.com/product/uni-pre-4-knob/ Best wishes, John

I have b axis pick ups installed in my bass, I’ve had an Audere pre in The bass, but it sounds too sterile to me, a little too transparent, I like more of the modern scoop sound, which one did you choose out of the two I mentioned? Thanks for your reply :-)

Animals as Leaders inspired this Man,…A lot of these guys buy a five string Bass for looks!,…not because they hear that low B in there heads!,…when it comes to creative song writing!,…But this guy has the F*cking spirt guiding him!,…taking him on a much needed journey!,….and we all need to shut the F*ck up!,…and go on this journey with him!,…what the hell do you think Sly Stone meant when he said!,..”I want to take you higher”!,…well this guy is showing you what he mint!,…Open your Mind!,…you know an interviewer asked Tosan Abosay of animals as leaders,..”What is that Chord you are playing”,…Tosan said!,..”a Major seventh”!,…the interviewer said,…”I’ve never heard that chord before!,…Tosan responded by saying!,..”Well if you listen to Iron Maidan all day you will never her it”.

I'm swapping out the preamp in my fender elite jazz for the JE retro deluxe, I'm having a hard time deciding between the Bartolini 9CBJS L1/S1 or Lollars. Do you have any experience with the lollars and JE retro?

Hi mate, I hadn't even heard of Lollars pickups so that's a no! Would certainly be interested to hear them with the JE though. Good luck!

Lollar is better known for his guitar pickups... but everything I've heard on the jazz is very nice. Not overly hyped or aggressive just clear and punchy. I have Bart soapbars with their preamp in a different bass so I just thought I'd ask in case you'd tried them. I just wanted to change it up a bit since I have barts already and have been trying to find someone who has tried this combo.

Hello Liam. Thanks for sharing this video with us. R u using any effects or processers in this recording...or ur going " raw and straight" I'm interested in getting a similar sound. So I'd like to know please. Just doing some research.

Larry, the only thing the bass is going through is the SPL Channel One which you can see. I use it for very light compression and to impart some tube warmth. It makes a marginal difference, the bass would still sound almost the same direct into the interface. The sound mainly comes from the onboard preamp and pickups. Hope this helps.
