Kindness is everything. This African American Lady found me by the roadside waiting to cross the road, it was heavily raining 🌧 she stopped her car ,requested me to get in and drove me to my apartment . Wherever and whoever you are, you touched my heart with your act of kindness 💛 Keep doing what you do and may you never lack anything you need

Beautiful! I also find that kindness helps me to change my day/mood from a bad one to a good one. So I use my bad day to think of how can I make someone else's day better. It works amazingly and usually ends up making me feel way better. Oxytocin rocks!

the ultimate act of kindness... My uncle donated his bone marrow to my father who was dying of leukaemia at the time. Unfortunately, it was too late and my father passed away, but that act will stay with me till my dying day 🙏 For those that don't know, the extraction of bone marrow is an insanely painful procedure.

I'm not boasting, just giving an example. My old boss was a piece trash - still is as far as I can tell. He and his wife demoralised their staff and belittled them for the smallest mistakes, publicly reprimanding them and even whinging to customers about them (me included). Whenever these things happened, I made a point of cheering them up somehow. Doing some of their work, cleaning up their mistake, making them a coffee, getting them to do something easier for a while and so on. Just to make them feel okay. It got to the point where staff said they hated working at that place but didn't want to leave because they liked working with me. I ended up having enough of the boss after seven years and leaving just before Christmas and every single staff member except one left within a week. Kindness matters.

The impact of one specific act of kindness has lasted through generations. I doubt that the African American couple who helped my mother (on a dark winter night in Detroit, circa 1940) when she had slipped on ice and cracked her head on a concrete curb would have expected that this would influence my mother's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren so far. Their example goes beyond far beyond simple kindness because all too often any interaction with "white" people could easily have proven dangerous to them. They could have just walked on with no risk.

This guy is like if Jordan Peterson didn't suffer chronic depression. I love that he's as meaningful, intelligent and articulate - but actually believes in a happy life. I have been hoping to "manifest" or find a teacher like this since I first saw Peterson and thought "you but more hopeful" and then I stumbled on this. Brene Brown was close, but not what I meant.

I consider myself kind but I admit there are times I know I can help but I hesitate, but at times I do help with the intention to make myself feel good or rather make myself look good (I know pretty selfish and egotistic). So in this case, is my act of helping out of making myself feel better not genuine?

Some people will react that way for sure. I really like the quote though that says, "People may not remember what you said, or what you did, but they will remember how you made them feel." -Maya Angelou. Even if in the moment they are upset at least someone did care enough to do that thing for them. Sometimes this can come off a bit hand-holdy but if you truly help someone like how Simon explained here you should feel good about it and hopefully the other person will too. There's a balance to it, but yeah if you're genuine about it it'll really add to the joyful song in your soul. Maybe they'll ask why you did that for them. In any case just because someone responded poorly one way doesn't mean that it won't help a different person. We all have different needs. Some people are really hoping someone will help but they won't ask for it. Others are the opposite. The fact that you want to help others is a wonderful thing though. I wish you only the best in your endeavors.
@DrKellyWaltman4 жыл бұрын
Agree with the other replies. We can't control how people receive or respond to our kindness, but if we are coming from a place of genuine and authentic kindness, that's all that matters. We can't know the type of day someone is having, or the struggle they are facing that causes them to respond unfavorably, but extending grace and kindness still puts goodness into the world.
@charleshurstreinvention39592 жыл бұрын
It also goes for difficult people. People can be annoying. Incompetent. Ridiculous. But as I told my own subscribers, you have to make an attempt not to hurt them. And usually that means even their feelings. You have to understand that many will have annoying traits that are not necessarily bullying traits but just what they are--annoying. And usually this type of behavior comes from their own internal unrest. As one of my Muay Thai coaches said: if a tiger attacks you in the jungle you must draw your knife and kill it. But if a little dog was nipping at your heels would you kick it to death? No, you move it gently out of the way. And that is the effort you have to make with people. Not everyone is strong, most aren't warriors. They aren't confident therefore have to be dealt with gently like the above analogy. And if you do that daily, you will find that it reflects back and gives you only more tranquility. Hope this helps someone out there---Charles

I think sometimes the ‘be kind’ statement is reductive somehow like saying “reach for the stars” when you’re run down. My very nature is being kind since i was in school, and of course it makes you feel good but I lately i tend to see the wider picture and that i have to be careful. It’s also made me wonder my natural kindness has a social reason. Over time I have had different reactions, like curiosity (‘Why would you be kind to your ex that cheated on you ?”), I’ve had people raised up by my kind attention, but there’s also another side, you’re taken for granted, end up carrying emotional burdens that’s not yours, constant high expectations of you, having to explain myself and how kindness can be seen to be weak and easy to make fun of. It’s even changed the dynamic in relationships. Over the years i’ve become a lot more introverted as people can be exhausting. I need to be assertive. I don’t mean to berate kindness, as random kindness to strangers is a beautiful thing. I think sometimes the ‘be kind’ statement is reductive somehow like saying “reach for the stars” when you’re run down. The ultimate kindness for me anyways is to be kind to myself first and foremost..
