I met Common back in 2013 in a gym at the hotel he was staying at. In NYC.. (Trump Soho to be exact) I was just there doing my job servicing the fitness equipment with my coworkers. Out of nowhere, he comes walking in and gets on one of the upright bikes and starts his work out.. set up his iPad on the console to read a movie script He was working on a the time. Once I noticed him, I didn't get starstruck or nothing. I said to him. Damn I was just talking about you with some other hip-hop heads. He says.. oh yeah what was y'all talking about? I just told him how some of his older music we still play. Specifically the joint on his 1997 album 1 too many. I asked him if Premo produced the beat cause I wasn't sure and he told me someone else did it, which I found out later he was right, of course. Lol. Then I left him alone to do his thing. . then, 10 minutes later, he just sparked up a conversation with me and we were talking for almost a damn hour!! Talking about everything from the state of hip hop music, to movies to politics.. he's a real down to earth Brother! For real. Salute to Common!
