There’s a real challenge in photographing the overly familiar, the places we have been thousands of times. It takes really seeing it with fresh eyes, which can be hard to do. I loved the metaphor of the modern train zipping by, the passengers unable to really see anything as they speed through the world, carried from one point to another, and missing everything in between. Meanwhile, you saunter, stopping, looking, allowing this little tiny part of the world to be everything for you in that moment. Thank you for a terrific reminder that the first thing a photographer (person, really) does is to be, be in the place they are, fully and completely. “Learn to do more with less.” ❤

The fact you get out in the fresh air and being artistically productive. Watch the movie Smoke. Harvey Keitel is a store owner I believe and takes the same picture everyday. And someone says to him. You take the same photo from the same place everyday. Why? So he says. I may see something different.

Thanks for the video. You’ve given me some good ideas on things to shoot and composition. Way back in the day when I was a semi professional the Mamiya C33 was the camera I used.

There is much to be said for "shoot local", you don't have to go the famous exotic locations which have been photographed a million times before. I find, like you, that film photography is a very mindful activity, especially, for me, near my home.

I thought you were taking out the orange rubber bands, but it's a 120 film😊 these Minolta light meters😍 Where to buy them?. So far I have two selenium ones. Leningrad 7 and the German Actino. Both new . Btw buy a case with a strap for this photo miracle. It will be more convenient for you to carry and frame i

This is the only light meter I’ve ever used and I’ve been using it since 2010! It’s amazing. I assume you can still find them on ebay? I’ve tried using a strap but I found it got in the way of me winding the crank… But then again carrying this one in one hand while trying to adjust the videocamera was no easy feat either 😅🤷🏻♀️…
