Assalamualaikum brother Daniel. I am pleased to listen your views about Imam Ghazalli. As a person born in Al-hul hadith family and after living for about 10 years. I always felt a void inside as i kind of believe that in traditions of Salafi school there is not much emphasis on this. By the way i am 53 years old currently teaching AI& ML at University of Kashmir and have ph.d. from Sheffield University, UK. I came to know about Brother Daniel this year only. I like your style of Debating and refutation but at the same time working towards unity as it is evident from your approach of appreacting the Deoband school despite not following it. We need more young sheikhs like you.i

You should study about Hassan al banna.... He was at the same time salafi and sufi Not like mention himself to be Salafai or Sufi but he was brought up in an environment that provided both elements and he is upright in following sunnah and Qur'an that is the main point.

I think it's very important to read the very old books on tassawuf, but as far as following one of the people standing up today saying, "I am a Sufi," beware and beware again. Once one has spent a lot of time with the scholars of Fiqh and Hadeeth one can have a base of knowledge that will help in avoiding frauds. As Al-Junaid said, "The Sufi is busy, memorizing Quran, writing and memorizing hadeeth, learning fiqh, listening to tafseer al-Quran, and learning the technical terms of the sufis (like the second half of Risillah Qushayri)." Today you find very few like that. Be careful and patient. May Allah give you a success that is from Him and there is no Power or Strength except that which is from Him. Amin.

Very few? there are maybe millions, if not hundreds of millions, of Shari'ah-adherent Sufis on every habitable continent. Their tariqat guide you to do Shari'ah first (fardh + sunnah) then other voluntary 'ibadah (Qur'an, studying Fiqh/Hadith, building Masajid, donating to charity). After all of this, they do group dhikr together. Shari'ah is the foundation of Sufism, you can do Shari'ah alone, but you can't do Tasawwuf alone. Alhamdulilah it's widespread for those who wants to do it.

@@geeljire9247 Most of the tarook of today are in bidda. Many of the books of Tassawuf warn us of this. Many give lip service to the Sharia but when you sit with them and mention Imam Ahmed or Imam Malik they don't know who they are or what they've said. Some give their adherents the feeling of participating in spirituality and then send them out to lives that resemble that of a non-Muslim. Some respond to hadeeth, you quote, with a story about the time they were with their Shaykh, Baba Hazrati Wazir, or whoever, as if the two were equal proofs. Some false shayook sit in the posts of real shaykhs of instruction who have passed away without a real successor to take their place. You ar WAY more likely to find a real Mufti than you are a real guide to Allah. It's Allah alone the opens that. You can't just make a decision to "be a sufi" and then walk up to any group and join. If you've done that. I'm sorry, but you should reflect on your situation in relation to eternity and start over. May Allah give you success in his deen.

I am a bit surprised of this as I thought that brother Daniel is on the athari/Salafi aqeedah. Scholars have repeatedly refuted this book إحياء علوم الدين especially for the very weak ahadith inside it and also because of clear-cut kufr inside the book.

@@OptimizedMuslim I dont want to just speak ill of Daniel without knowing him personally but I always wanted to speak to him to see what his perspective is on all this. If you have ever seen his comment sections or talked to some of his followers you would know that he spreads a lot of hate and justifies their hostility. He makes Takfir of his fellow Muslim brothers and sisters by posting short clips with no context in order to manipulate people to think a certain way. He only punches up... he attacks some of the biggest names in Islam just for attention. Its honestly disgusting at times... I had to unsubscribe from his KZbin just because of the amount of hate I was getting. He doesn't have a very nuanced perspective (in my humble opinion) and he is far to quick to attack other Muslims on things he frankly is just misunderstanding. I can't tell if its incompetence or malevolence but he is not a voice the ummah should be listeining to when it comes to things like this... I'm conflicted because I do think he is highly intelligent and makes great content at times (for example the genius of Islam series and some of his public debates where he defends Islamic ideas) but his spreading of hate is unjustifiable.

@@AbdullahMikalRodriguez totally true, i confronted the guy on facebook for very dangerous words of his against anyone criticizing him in the comment section...... and at some point being cornered he just blocked me.... nonetheless, we still hope he will change with age and learning.... watching him by the way criticizing saudi arabia, watching him respecting al ghazali and tasawuf..... is a huge leap forward for someone coming from nadjdi background..... so there is room for evolution

Most of his criticism are justified in my opinion. He has criticised the big names who were being an aid in spreading LGBTQ and liberalism in Muslim community. He is a bit harsh at times, which is only getting better with time and age. May Allah protect him. He is an asset of Ummah for presenting Islam without sugar coating. @Eli_Muwahhid scholars, daees and layman who follow the teachings of Abdul Wahhab and argue with others claiming that they are the only one on haq. The others are kafirs or misguided. Also includes scholars who are subservient of Saudi royal family and in turn who are subservient to the West

@@OptimizedMuslim Tassawuf is about wearing suf and dedicating your life to worship. This is more like Rahbaniya in Christianity which explains why sufism is a later development. Rahbaniya (I don't know the English term) is forbidden in Islam. Sufism always leads and has led to misguidance. We're all Muslims on the Sunnah and manhaj of the Salf so why think to yourself "Ye know what? I'm still missing something". You don't need any innovation in religion. You don't need any extra rituals and 'traiqa'... It has never been part of Islam. So why risk your akhira with the shubuhat when we can be clearly on the right path without any other addition? I think I know the answer. It's ego.
