I live in South Auckland and it's just as poverty-stricken as when I was a kid growing up in the 80's. Actually, with all the terraced housing being built, I think it might be getting worse. Most South Auckland Electorates have voted Labour MPs in by a landslide in every Election. I ask: where has that gotten us?

Well said brother.. I'm pakeha and am very much like you with my support for old Labour.. Similar to you, I have noticed the change, in fact it started around 20 years ago - Mike Moore saw the writing on the wall in the 90s and referred to them as the trendy chardonnay swilling socialists.. I'm actually very concerned as my home base vote is no longer viable, as it will not go to a Labour party that has divorced from it's roots. I do not trust National as they tend to enter power and start slashing away at the areas that need help the most, that's wrong.. Winston Peters is saying all the right things in terms of centre, more leaning left values, but I'm still not sure.. We are in a bad way at the moment.

Agree with you! Imagine if Nats, Labour, Greens & Act were all usurped by the ‘minor’ parties like DemocracyNZ, NZFirst, TOP etc who would then hold the puppeteers strings…!?
