This is such a coincidence, seeing this video today. I have had many troubles with my son, and I put a Quran in a bag with some other gifts for his birthday today. Today is not his actual birthday but for various reasons the ability to get this Quran to him was present and his birthday is not too far off in the future days. He is an adult now and did not grow up with Islam. So, I load up KZbin and I see this video. I found Islam a few years ago and I felt the need to study and learn about it. I cannot say it is or has been easy. I feel very alone in faith and I waiver. I am on a downward waiver right now. I envy people (not in a bad way - just more of a wish) that have had Islam in their families since birth. It is such a gift, I cannot tell you how much of a gift it is. Adolescent or even adult children who see this video, please take heed to take good care of your Mother. If she has raised you with faith in Allah SWT then favor her with your best deeds always. Care for her, tend to her. It is such a blessing, Alhamdulillah. My Mother lives with me. I try my best to care for her. We both have illness and difficulties. And, I try to tell her of Islam. But, perhaps I am not the most versed or the best teacher of this faith. I have not had nearly the time or the exposure that I would need to teach sufficiently, but I try my best, SubhanAllah. The meaning of Sabr: In the Arabic language, sabr means ‘to hold fast’ ‘cease,’ or ‘choke’. For example, in Bedouin Arabic, to say “one has been killed by sabr,” means one was choked to death. Allah the Most High Says (what means): “And keep yourself patient [by being] with those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His countenance…” [Quran 18: 28]. Sabr in this verse means to ‘hold to.’ Thus sabr means to hold one’s self from anxiety (jaza') and anger (tasakhkhut), to hold one’s tongue from complaint, and to hold one’s body from disgraceful movements. It is of three types: Patience in obeying Allah the Most High (namely, perseverance), patience in avoiding Allah’s disobedience (namely, resolve), and patience in Allah’s tests. The first two of these are related to voluntary acts, over which we as humans have control. The last pertains to what happens to us (by Allah’s Decree) wherein we have no choice. REMEMBER THIS WHEN PAIN AND DIFFICULTIES COME TO YOU Pain and difficulties are either: 1. Kindness and mercy 2. Justice and wisdom 3. Rectification and preparation for a good that is to come after it 4. A means of repelling a pain that is more difficult than it.
