Funny, but John Lennox (who actually heard Lewis teach on occasion) often tells the story of how higher-ups at Oxford told him to (literally) choose between reason and what they considered mere imagination. They tried to force him to pick reason and reason alone, to the exclusion of his deeply held Christian beliefs, otherwise, people wouldn't take him seriously. Thank God that John Lennox stood firm for the faith (and still does to this day), telling faculty chairs that if they had something better to contribute to humanity, to bring it forth. Of course, they never could, or ever will.
