I dont understand why people hate on Nick Beggs so much, I understand he doesn't have as much of the 'frontman' character about him, however he is one hell of a bass player and the Islands album is an absolute masterpiece 👌.

I think Beggs is perfect for a leading role in a band, I also can understand why the scores of female fans swooning over Limahl couldn't in any way settle for a replacement. Both Limahl and Beggs stood out as characters and to stand out in the 80s was quite the accomplishment. Get any second-tier band from the 80s through a time machine right here and they would rule the charts for a decade straight.

He is a brilliant bass player the band was doomed either way they wanted to be taken seriousy the manager was the problem and he should of been fired.I think islands is a great record.

This album is really good! I also have their previous one with Limahl. They made a big mistake firing him. Yes, Nick can sing and he’s an out of this world bass player!. However, Limahl has a very smooth pop voice and great charisma. The band didn’t have the same magic withou Limahl imo.

People who liked the Limahl era weren't interested in a more serious funk - rock approach, and serious rock fans weren't going to touch them, after the Limahl era.

Damn ! This is an awesome song ! It’s 2023 and I lived through the great songs from the 80’s…and yet, this is the absolute first time I am listening this song and why is that ? These guys never had a good manager and also I see that they themselves missed a lot of opportunities. They could have been one of the most successful bands in England and in the world if they really wanted to, because I see a lot of talent here and they didn’t need Limahl for that ! Too bad . The bass line here is great ! Well, well … past is past … but what if… This is a lesson that we can make our opportunities, you must be willing to trust and compromise. It was a great band !

Loving is to live with the power to forgive. Loving is to live with the power to forgive. Lead me, show me, where can it be found? Reach me, hold me, don't ever let me down. (Tell me what you've seen.) I know the story. (Tell me what you mean.) Maybe or surely. (Tell me what you've seen.) The crimson fell like rain. (Should I even try?) Whatever before me. (Living out a lie?) I believe in glory. (Should I even try?) Until it comes again. Forgiveness you're the key, you're no fool that died for me. I'm real sorry though, I simply could not see. Forgiveness you're the key, you're no fool that died for me. Forgiveness is forgiving endlessly. Reach me, show me, where can it be found? Teach me, grow with me, don't ever let me down. (Tell me what you've seen.) Every day I fail him. (Tell me what you mean.) As I bang another nail in. (Tell me what you've seen.) Living my life the same. (Should I even try?) Paying the debt back. (Living out a lie?) A long time side-tracked. (Should I even try?) Until it comes again. Forgiveness you're the key, you're no fool that died for me. I'm real sorry though, I simply could not see. Forgiveness you're the key, you're no fool that died for me. Forgiveness is forgiving endlessly. Oh oh Forgiveness you're the key, you're no fool that died for me. I'm real sorry though, I simply could not see. Forgiveness you're the key, you're no fool that died for me. Forgiveness is forgiving endlessly.
