I was initially VERY resistant to gay adoption but the more I watch of this family, the more it becomes clear that the most important thing is to love your kids and make them feel safe and secure with a self of self and self-esteem. If they can do that, they it doesn't matter that their gay. Huge credit and respect to them all. That's courage.

Google Reviewer Yep. I had heterosexual parents. They’re were some of the most neglectful and abusive people I ever met. 100s of 1000s are children are in foster care due to straight abusive parents. Studies have shown that gay parents raise children on average that are more well adjusted than children with straight parents. In any case, children shouldn’t languish in foster care and sent out on the streets, if there’s loving families. One 17 foster kid in the news said he wanted parents and didn’t care if they were gay or straight. He just wanted someone to love him.

I appreciate Rob's openness to sharing about abuse. Traumas heal over time but never totally go away. He resists that urge to pretend it's all fine, he talks about the unpretty stuff, the suicide attempts. And I love that he sees his children as people, as his equals. Not as someone to save. They rely on each other, it's a partnership.

Rob, Thank you so much for opening up and being vulnerable in this video. I too aged out of care, and sometimes I still curl up and cry myself to sleep. Most of the time, I keep myself busy and can stay on top of the hurt and loneliness, but even after years of therapy, learning to deal with PTSD, it still catches me off guard at times. Thank you for sharing. Your strength in being vulnerable allows me to be vulnerable too, and that makes all the difference.

I'm so grateful he was so open. Sharing his personal story of abuse and depression... those dark moments seem unreal when the interview- ready side of self is present. But we all have dark moments. His story is beautiful and encouraging and practical. Some things can't be escaped, don't fear that... find what feels like the right ways to live with the tough stuff.

Rob has written a book about his experiences, as a triumphant survivor of abuse. Better still, despite the pain and anguish, he has mined gold from the sadness of his former life, and now knows exactly what NOT to do, as an adopting parent!! I admire this wonderful man so much. And what a joy to see how well the children are doing. BTW they are beautiful kids, I mean handsome... and pretty. All comes from great parenting. Best from New Orleans and love to you all...

I once saw a woman with the most adorable little girl, 4 years old. I commented on how adorable her daughter was. She said she was her foster daughter daughter and had been with her since birth. She said, she is available for adoption, you should look into it. It bothered me so much. This was the only home this liitle one had known, just say thank you when someone comments on your "adorable" child. I gaurantee in the child's mind she is thrilled that people think they are family, that she has a real mum. To have this public reminder and worse, this woman telling people she is available to be taken from this, her only known home and family, so casually, will leave its mark. Wether meant as uncaring, it will feel that way.

Awesome story, I adopted my biological neice when she was 2wks old. She is now 28 and is my pride and joy. She is my biggest accomplishment and I thank God everyday for giving her to me. She is the biggest Momma's baby you could every met. People who adopt have a huge capacity for love.

This is a true testament to love and loving and caring for children who desperately need a kind, loving, safe and compassionate home to call their own. I think whether we have our own children, adopt or babysit - we should be grateful for even just a minute to show kindness, love and protect these kids that come into our care or life. I love and look out for my kids' friends and they know I got their backs like their my own.
