It is true, a motel room would be cheaper but we have gotten up and seen a lot of wildlife in the pacific northwest United States. One morning a pod of orca swam by so close we could hear every breath they took. Priceless. You have to pay extra for some of the experiences we have had. Some of our most memorable experiences have been while camping in odd places that you wouldn't be able to pitch a tent. I would love to travel the United Kingdom and the European continent with one of these.

you're in a video. don't tell, SHOW. I presume the "Joker" name has something to do with the £64,000 price tag? you can get a lot of holidays or cruises for that sort of money!

It's a brilliant vehicle. It can park in normal parking spaces, it can get around city centers, it can fit on old and narrow bridges, roads, streets etc. and drives more like a normal car than a truck.. The only thing it lacks (imo) is the pure "sex appeal" of the older models. The T1, T2 and T3 are just pure sex on wheels. So much charm. The newer "round" models completely lost that part I think. They're much better than the older ones obviously but I just wish they would have tried to keep them "sexy". :D

It's funny watching these videos compared to the US ones. Our English camper vans look like shabby little shoe boxes compared to the big US motor homes. If I'm honest there's not a lot about the US I'm jealous of, but their camper vans, and all the big open country they've got is something I really envy.

+Ed Lake We do have plenty of Class B mobile homes that are on the mercedes chasis-- dodge sprinter-- and now recently released by mercedes in the us

Ed Lake I'm from the usa. But I like those small and narrow campers from Europe. I'm not sure of the money conversion but I would love to see something like one of those french size units come here. We do have wider roads, but most of our affordable rigs are gas engined. We only get about 5-7 miles per gallon and when traveling 3500 miles round trip for a vacation it adds up.

looks like there is too much shoe horned into a all ready very small space what more do you need in a camper than a somewhere to sleep somewhere to wash and somewhere to cook , just too cluttered for my liking . cramped and claustrophobic

Lovely layout given me ideas for my high top build but over £60 grand ........Ummm ....... NOOOOO sorry I havent won the lottery this week! i just cant see them selling out of them in a hurry! You can buy a luxury American pusher RV motorhome with slide outs and double the space, full sized bathroom, you name it for the same price or less! I love VW but REALLY? thats being a little greedy on the mark up! My conversion will probably cost me under £3000 and be built to the same standards as this ( maybe a few more extras) all for under £15,000 all in! 🤷🏼‍♂️

If you're found to be sleeping in a car when you're over the drink drive limit of alcohol you can be arrested as being drunk in charge of that vehicle. Is it the same for people that have a couple of glasses of wine in their motorhome? Sure, the drunk could claim that he is going to sleep it off in the camper but its really no different from someone sleeping it off in the back seat of a car...

It is a TDi. It's a VW 2.0 with 180 hp. Tuning/boost kits are possible from many companies. Vehicle is not that heavy in the first place though. It is a 4 by 4 driven vehicle allready. but if you want to do some real offroad: www.seikel. delivers an exelent kit.I drive a VW T5 California (180hp) myself. I highly recommend this van/camper.

My T5 Cali is a 4/5 passenger campervan with a popup roof and built inhouse by VW, it's shorter and lower than this T5 Westfalia which is based on a longwheel base T5. I agree that weight always plays a role, but this "Westy" have most of what you need onboard, including toilet, in my mind the "Westy" is the perfect go/park everywhere adventuremobile for 2 persons. In normal traffic the 180hp version with good torque will still allow you to overtake others. Not sure i'd need 300hp - but maybe i'm just getting old/boring.

I would love to go to Wyoming, Colorado, etc for a drive. But I'm from Europe (Denmark).. I have been over the Alps numerous times though, with 2-4 persons incl lugage: NO prob! I dont think the VW t5 are sold in the US due to some old import restrictions.. Anyway, You have some nice rides over there and I'm all for buying as local as possible. I'm sure you can find something similar in the States. Best of luck/drive safe.
