Really? Sher's whole character arc is based around not letting go of the people he loves. He resented Sun at the beginning because he thought Sun had killed his wolf pup, but he found out long before this that it wasn't true and it was just part of his uncle's method to keep them fighting each other for his approval. Sher wanted to save Sun's life, but he didn't have any of his own people at hand.

As far as he knows, the worst thing she's ever done TO HIM is gaslighting, *and* he understands to a degree why she is the way she is. He doesn't want to blame her for it because he knows she's had it hard-- They've both had it hard, but he knows that hers has been worse. Even when Sun fully believed it was his father that had given the go-ahead for the Bear Division to massacre the Eagle Division, Sun didn't revolt. He didn't attempt to challenge him directly or assassinate him covertly. He just noped out of there and faked his own death with the Eagle Division. Sher is a HIGHLY empathetic person, and it's the reason he struggles so much in the position he's in. Just like Sun wouldn't just turn his back on his father, of course Sher wouldn't turn his back on his mother.
