Saint Gertrude the Great had a great empathy for the holy souls in purgatory.
She prayed often for them with fortitude, and a resolve to help them ascend into heaven. She would often ask God what prayer she could recite to help them. God answered Saint Gertrude and gave her a vision of a vast number of souls entering heaven from purgatory as a result of her faithful and frequent recitation of this prayer.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Eternal Father, I offer You the most Precious Blood of Your Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the Universal Church, those in my own home, and within my family. Amen.
