I did my CPAT for firefighting, and that took me the full 11 minutes to complete. While running around wearing the 20lbs, the issue was they make climb for almost 4 minutes on a stair machine at a set pace while carrying 100lbs. (2x 25lbs shoulder weights + 2x 25lbs dumbbells to carry)... it was brutal
@hogoaa20 сағат бұрын
1. Climb up and down a 105 foot ladder in full gear (~55lbs) 2. Pull a charged (filled with water) 200' section of 1 3/4" hoseline 150 feet and flow water hitting 3 targets 3. Crawl through a 20ft drain pipe (the bottle on your back forces you into a prone position, arms are stuck by your side or stretched past your head) 4. Carry a highrise pack (50' section of 2 1/2' hoseline folded and straped down) up 3 floors, at the top raise and lower a 50lb weight from the ground (via rope), carry the highrise pack back down. 5. Drag a 200lb dummy 50 feet. 6. Pull a charged 50' section of 2 1/2" hoseline 100 feet. Fastest time gets the job, no 'running' on the fireground, but you better not be not running.

I tried out for the local PD and there was no prep, they threw us full tilt into the PT exam and the only breaks you got between trials was the time it took to get to the next one. If you walked during any of the travel tests (obstacle, 400m sprint, 1.3mile run) you were automatically disqualified. I wonder where this prep test is done. Honestly, it is a good way for them to learn how to move without getting hurt.

This has been around long before DEI. It test more than physical attributes, you are also judged on things like, how you drop the dummy, whether you stop on the run ( happens either before of after this ) or don't make the stage. ( better to fail a stage than to stop for breath.)
