Most drum covers aren't exactly like the original. Drums are a great instrument to fool around on, because you can add different fills in different places while still playing the same beat/going along with the song. I liked his fills, I'd partially agree that he overplayed a little but to each our own.

eshay disdat clearly you either don’t play drums or are a beginner. One of the most important lessons that you learn is that more does not equal advanced. A lot of times more can make a song worse. A lot of the times, less is more.

Bichon Nation yeah, but that’s more when you’re playing with a band. When it’s literally just you, more is usually more exciting. There’s some great solos that expertly use spacing, but that’s not coopers style, and that’s okay.

I've seen this kid do other songs, an you always get these wanna-be-mature sounding guys tryin to act like they could pull this off in their sleep, but they have a level of maturity that allows them not to sink to this busy playing. Spot on - music evolves as time goes by and a lot of drummers who played in clubs and bars etc were doing the same routines night after night and playing the same stuff over and over without any progression in their style or ability. Somebody new comes on the scene with more ability and style, and all of a sudden they realise they have been stuck in a bubble for years going nowhere and not honing their drumming style or ability. What do they do ? Slag the person that is going places with their style and ability. Sad persons indeed and stuck in a big rut of their own making

Sure never occurred to any band that's ever done a cover that it should be done by the book. The point of covering is to give it something new, its not called a relapse or a replay, its a cover, a new rendition. Sound of silence, land of confusion, and a bunch of other songs were covered by disturbed, none of them sound like the original but they're masterpieces that stay on the top charts. Don't neglect something just because its different

'I didn't want to add to add too much' he must have hated his cover then. I can see he's an amazing drummer but if Taylor wanted to play this drum part he could have as easily as Casey could. With other instruments​ in the band you don't need such an interesting and exciting drum part, sure it sounds good but a drum solo with no other instruments would sound good as well. This was not a drum cover but more of a drum solo at the same tempo. I play in a band and the drummer can play anything he wants but that's not what music is in most cases. there are songs for it but i think he should make it clearer that in a band you don't do this.

Yeah, it's ok drumming but not great musicianship. I guess this is a way one could play it, and has added all the fills as that's his thing to be fair. They would get you fired before the first chorus in most bands. It's not my cup of tea, but he literally has a million more followers than me!

Right okay, this hurt my ears a lot. I am a dedicated Foo Fighters fan, and as a fellow drummer I understand you don't play covers perfectly and you add your own stuff, but Cooper saying "I didn't want to add too much" is hypocrisy personified. This song does not need a double bass pedal nor ridiculous fills (especially after the breakdown of the song), credit where credit is due this guy is talented, but I don't agree with retracting the essence from any song, let alone probably one of the best rock songs of all time.
