*amymiss* yes. I am a folk singer. I do what is natural to my voice. She disciplined her voice to what she wanted for her narrative. That is not just "talent", that is a lot of hard work. She is to be admired with what she does with her voice. It did not happen by accident.

I am 46 now, but once upon a time i was 18. And something i was certainly not able to articulate back then was that all the well wishers -all the people who were trying to "help" me were at some level also trying to relive their lives through me. And yes, they were blaming my youth for their problems. Do i hold that against them? No. But it has also remained a point of frustration in life that at the time i did not have the sense of identity, or frame of reference to explain what i saw happening around me. Do i spend the rest of my life bitching because i actually had people who cared about my future? I know what it is like to be alone -where every one just leaves you alone. But no one cares if you live or if you die. And it sucks! Bitch at me all day long, because i need you at least as much as you need me! ;) And at this point, i guess i am going on tangent. One of my favorite family figures was this burly throwback to humanoids before civilization, that i knew as Uncle Bruce. He was certainly the manliest man i have ever encountered. And, by the way, i bear no resemblance to him. But something that he was always good at, whenever i was around, he would find something constructive for me to do that would help him with a project. And he never had to raise his voice. As big and dangerous looking as he was, he never had to raise his voice with me. Years later when i was a senior in high-school, that same Uncle Bruce gave me some soul advice. I had decided to go into the Marine Corps. Why? Because i was young, dumb, & full of %^&. And the Marine Corps is a perfectly noble, and honorable pursuit, for those brave Americans who belong there. Please don't think i am disrespecting our Marines, or the Corps. But me as a young man -it was an absolute mismatch. My Uncle Bruce recognized this right away. He tried to tell me that i did not have anything to prove as a man. I was acceptable as a man regardless of my own doubts, regardless of what others might see on the outside. And this was coming from that person that was undisputedly the manliest man i have ever met. Like i said, i am still not sure he was fully homo sapien ;). But he was the one person at that age of 18, that actually "heard" what i was feeling as a teen struggling to become an adult. And that is the memory that i will always keep of my Uncle Bruce.
