Bob was the best of the best. Price Is Right was my favorite game show of all time.

Love the Barker Era. The golden years of this show.

Prior to watching this, I thought the contestants were chosen randomly from the audience . Interesting to hear the process behind it all.

Bill Carlson would have been a great guest announcer for PIR!

Thank you Bob, I remember you on NBC and Truth or Consequences. Then as a fresh young guy on the The Price is Right. Match Game 73, Tattletales and the rest is history as CBS Television City was able to redo, then outdo American game shows and color television. Using the production values instituted with their variety programming. Danny Kaye, The Smothers Brothers, Carol Burnett and Sonny and Cher.

Concentration was the show Price beat to become the longest running daytime game show on one network, and it ran 14 years and seven months from Aug 1958-March 1973. The current run of Let's Make a Deal will have at least a 16 year run as it is renewed for its 16th season on CBS, having started on Oct 5 2009. Wheel of Fortune daytime lasted 14.5 years on NBC before moving to CBS in Summer 1989(and back on NBC from Jan-Sep 1991) What's My Line ran 17.5 years on CBS primetime from Feb 1950-Sep 1967

concentration is long overdue for a revival. It still burns me that NBC passed on a revival of Concentration to expand the fucking today show

Barker, like so many people in that business, come alive when the cameras are on them and put up a really good facade of being an affable person but the reality of who they really are are is nowhere near the same.

have you ever been in front of a camera you're entire life or have been near someone who has? Just because you're not "on" when you're off camera is a poor way to judge affability-even off camera nobody can be "on" 24/7. You're a very poor judge of character-knowing Bob as I did, he was a very low key, private individual off stage but very approachable-there's no facade-Bob was a good person and is very much missed by those who knew him. What you see here is how he was-in discussing the plight of animals, Bob was serious-no one's demeanor is always the same all the time. If you were to sit down and talk with Bob, this is how he would be.

9:58, "An announcer can't just read it all in the same voice; he must have a good range, and he must have life, and fun in his voice, because if you don't, the audience, it affects the audience at home." This, IIRC, is why Daniel Rosen didn't last very long in 2004-- because, as I understand it, everything he did was so monotone (he even ruined one broadcast in 2004 w/that "Uh" at the top of the show before the "Here it comes..." that all announcers have used).

The same reason they declined to have Gene Wood take over after Johnny Olsen passed. He just didn't have the excitement, and you never saw him on the camera. Rod Roddy was the perfect choice, and soon after, he became more famous with his glittery blazers.

A few of the other guest announcers in 1985-86 and 2003-04 weren't the best fits for the show, including Gene Wood and Rich Jeffries in 1985-86 and Roger Rose in 2003-04. Daniel Rosen was the announcer for the Atlantic City TPIR Live stage shows around the time he announced on the actual show in 2003-04

Bob looks like evil before the camera roles and the fake smile starts
@Joe-mz6dc4 ай бұрын
He was talking about eagles and at that point they were endangered and at risk of extinction. Did you expect him to smile during that? As an animal lover he was distraught at the plight of the Eagle at that time. As were many of us. Get over yourself.

Evil? Seriously?!Bob looked normal to me and displayed normal reactions to me given the topics discussed. It seems that, you too, are a poor judge of character-see my post to Adam above.

You're not a good judge of character. He was discussing a very difficult subject which was not a happy subject.
