So, basically continuation on Primo Victoria. *Metalizer (2007)* - Actually recorded in 2002, but got stuck on a "record company shelf". The only album NOT about history, still has some cool songs. *The Art Of War (2008)* - All songs correspond to a chapter in the book. *Coat Of Arms (2010)* - All WW2 topics. *Carolus Rex (2012)* - About the rise & fall of Swedish Empire in early 1600's- early 1700's. Available in 2 separate versions, Swedish & English. You'll need to compare, not all lyrics are the same/ translation, though the topics are same. Swedish is actually very popular! *Heroes (2014)* - Individual soldiers or small groups in WW2, who can be considered "heroes". *The Last Stand (2016)* - Last stands throughout the ages, from Sparta to 1980's. *The Great War (2019)* - WW1 *The War To End All Wars (2022)* - WW1 From their official website: "A ‘sabaton’, also known as a ‘solleret’, is a flexible steel foot covering in a medieval suit of armour. The sabaton was first seen from the mid-14th century onward when the concept of plate armour began. This armour was not typically used by foot soldiers or for ground combat as it could hinder movement, but was preferred by mounted soldiers (cavalry). We chose this name for our band because we felt it was simple, it related to our song topics and it evoked curiosity among people." + about their logo: "Our logo is the perfect mix between the Sabaton S and a real sabaton. The top of the S includes a sabaton shoe tip, while the middle part of it represents the metal reinforcement of a foot covering. Sabaton is a piece of armor, its a foot defense of mail or of a number of lames with solid toe and heel pieces. I agree it sounds very metal 🤘

The host/historian is Indy Neidell. Originally from Texas, he now lives in Sweden. He's an historian, actor, and musician, and a man who makes me question what I've done with my life. It's worth looking at his work on KZbin if you love history. He hosted the most ambitious WWI documentary ever made here, The Great War channel, up to the end of the war (a new host does their current stuff) and Indy is currently hosting the WWII channel, doing the same thing. Both channels cover their respective wars week-by-week in stunning detail. He has other work, as well, including a series on world history between the world wars, which often gets overlooked.

The new Sabaton song '1916' (A tribute to the Motothead song of the same name) is about the Battle of the Somme. I HIGHLY recommend listening to that.

Yep! It's nice how many that is knowledge about history 😀 Specifically the upper part that curves and has a tip. Not the shoe itself or padding just the over metal part

Make sure to check out some live performances too. Highly recommend: Ghost Division, Uprising and 40:1 from Woodstock. En Livstid i Krig and Red Baron from The Great Tour. And Swedish Pagans from Wacken. Also the animated videos for No Bullets Fly and Night Witches is a must.

I concur, Sabaton live is something you have to see to believe and appreciate. The Polish Woodstock festival from 2012 is exceptionally good with 550,000+ in attendance.

Sabaton has (at least) two songs about soldiers who survived Passchendaele, The Ghost in the Trenches and The Unkillable Soldier.

If you like Sabaton you will quickly realise they have a very large amount of impactful songs. There is two songs from a Polish perspective during WWII where the history deserves to be known: "Uprising" about the Warsaw Uprising (Highly recommend the history episode on this. There is also a great live version of this were they play infront of hundreds of thousands of people) "Inmate 4859" about a Polish resistance fighter who volonteers to go to Auschwitz Then all the videos with an animate story by Yarnhub is all great: "No Bullets Fly" about a German figther pilot who spares an American bomber crew "Night Witches" about Soviet female bomber crews "Lady of the Dark" about a Serbian female war hero during WWI "The Red Baron" about the WWI Fighter Ace Carolus Rex album has lots of great song: "Carolus Rex" about king Charles XII who inherits the crown at 15 and is forced into war by almost all his neighbours while still a teenager "En livstid i krig" about the Thirty Years War from a Swedish soldiers perspective (There is a fantastic live version of this song from Gothenburg. They sing in Swedish but there are English subtitles) All the songs on this album are great and they are all available in an English and a Swedish version

There is also an Iron Maiden song called Paschendale. Another great song that paints the horrors of the battle.

Gruesome story that really is an example of the meaningless loss of human lives. There are 2 albums out about WWI now. The Great war, released July 2019 The war to end all wars, released March 2022

Great reaction and analysis. that you for sharing your thoughts on this horrendous battle. Interesting fact: The Lewis gun was invented by U.S. Army colonel Isaac Newton Lewis in 1911, based on initial work by Samuel Maclean. Even though a private American design, it was primarily produced and used by the UK during WW1.
