I really like how they chose a medieval setting for this version. It's like a background from Disney's Sleeping Beauty come to life!
@jasonhurd43793 жыл бұрын
I agree! Sleeping Beauty is my favorite animated film from Disney, not least due to the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. It is just as enchanting in the 1964 rendition of the R&H Cinderella.

When I was a kid - 6 in 1965 I was sitting in front of the floor console TV screen and when that girl popped in front of the camera at the end it scared the crap out of me. LOL !!! Love the Renaissance dance that goes with the music.

I love this version of Cinderella especially the dance number to "The Prince is Giving a Ball". There's such a special glee to it. It really takes me back to when I first saw it in 1965 as a 6-year-old little girl. I was sick with the mumps and my dad put me in the den and rolled the TV in, rabbit ears and all so that I could watch the show. Back then we only had a black & white TV, but I loved the show so much that color really didn't matter especially with a child's imagination. I believe that CBS ran it again in 1966 as well. Of course, as a dreamy-eyed 7-year-old, I wasn't going to miss it. And now as a 63-year-old little girl reaching her Social Security years, I still watch it with that same sense of anticipation and glee.

I'd like to see the original production's take on this number. The herald was played by Seymour Penzner - whose stage name was Robert Penn. I got to work with him at McCarter back in 1971. A VERY affable fellow!
