I could sing praises of this movie as much as everyone else, but I'm so glad that you delved into certain often-overlooked details in the storytelling (even a few that even I myself had not noticed previously)! I think the status and praise this movie has received today is very much warranted. But I would also like to point out, to those who are not yet aware of it, that this show has an official stage adaptation that is currently playing on London's West End! I have seen plenty of comments from people online saying that there were things they did not like the changes to (while several others who have actually gone to see the show in person have loved it), but I think it's something that is worth mentioning AND worth giving at least one listen to the cast recording!

Thanks so much, I'm so glad I mentioned details that stood out to you! And yes!! I actually am aware of the West End production, but sadly not beyond the soundtrack at the moment! The live performance of 'When You Believe' with the ensemble got randomly recommended to me some months ago and I've listened to some of the cast recording since. I decided to not personally mention the production only because I was very much focused on making sure I covered the film as thoroughly as I can for this video, but I'm so glad to hear that it's been able to reopen amidst the pandemic and I hope it can be seen by more people (including me, because I don't have much to go off of, as an American, aside from the cast on the recordings being talented lol). Thanks so much for mentioning this!!!

Hey Alex, I saw your comment on my latest vid and wanted to check in & say hi to a fellow Twilight Zone fan! It makes me happy as well seeing other creators recognize the classic show as I have on my KZbin channel over the last year. It's amazing television, well worth the time and discussion. Plus, so much of Rod's Serling's writing remains as poignant as ever. Anyway, I could talk Twilight Zone forever, LoL Prince of Egypt was an epic animated movie - fitting of your deep-dive! I need to revisit this, as it's been quite some time. Good to see you are back at it. Be well & take care!

The dynamic between Moses and Rameses is one of my favorite things about this movie, especially since Rameses isn't portrayed archetypal villain. Their conflict feels more tragic because of it
@AlexCarson3 жыл бұрын
I 100% agree!! I really understood where both of them came from on their respective sides and watching this film made me hope that more people irl can understand that not everything is so black-and-white. The "10 Plagues" sequence and the repercussions they both experience is so impactful!

I'm back, I'm doing as well as I can be personally and hope life's serving you well, too! The 'Plagues' is so astonishing, for sure, and the soundtrack for this film is genuinely one of the best I've heard! I totally listened to it or covers of the songs on KZbin a lot when working on the video haha!

Nice to see you again, Alex. I love this movie too and you did a good job not only talking about the movie’s themes but also its production and use of lighting. That’s something that is overlooked by many reviewers. The music is also beautiful to listen to. It’s always nice whenever you upload a new video.

Thanks for your support to the channel and the kind words, Alex! I absolutely loved the production behind this movie so I was very excited to touch upon what I was able to contribute in the video. I just love everything The Prince of Egypt had to offer!!

Another fantastic video! I remember seeing this the first time on the big screen back in 98 and just feeling this sense of awe and wonder through the animation. I couldn't believe what I was seeing it was one of those moments where you are sitting in the theater knowing you are seeing something special. this is in my opinion the greatest dreamworks animated film.
@AlexCarson3 жыл бұрын
It really is one of DreamWorks' best AND IT WAS THEIR SECOND FILM?! I don't understand how they did it, but I'd love to see this film on the big screen. It sounds like watching back when it came out was an awesome experience and I'm so glad you got to!

Waited too long to get back to this video, but I really enjoyed the insight into the movie! I have been holding off watching it for many years, but this intrigued me enough to possibly sit down & give it a watch this week! The animation & scale looks epic. I’ve also heard multiple praises towards the complex relationships in this movie, which, for being Biblical & traditional in its source material, is a necessary component to make the experiences relatable to the audience, rather than just relying on the the themes that have been overly discussed for hundreds of years. Just from your video, I can see that they brought new elements to an old story.

Personally I’m atheist, and I think the exodus story is kind of messed up, BUT, I do like what they did to change this story to make it a much more human story than most other Bible stories
@AlexCarson3 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, I remember reading the Book of Exodus for the video (owning a Bible made this and being raised around faith made it easier to research) and the story is definitely not easy to sit through but the humanness in the film adds a lot to the events it's sourced from.

This film was my first real introduction to a more Mature telling of the story first told in the Bible As well as my overall first animated film to have a major impact on me not just as in religion but looking at what my life would go onto be I relate to Moses so much and the song “Look At Your Life Through Heavens Eyes” alone taught my little self never to take anything for granted cuz good things are All around me Furthermore seeing these two brothers who were close despite not being Blood Related Get lost by two different paths got me hard As you said One longs for the past while the other most embrace his future God has laid down IMO the Ten Commandments Picture from 1956 was not for me nor could I see that being better than Prince of Egypt No disrespect intended TPOE just grabbed me and tons of kids more In just having the main characters be Brothers first before Enemies Also Val Kilmer is just more believable as Moses and God Same with Ralph Fiennes as Ramses Add a beautiful soundtrack and musical Cues And you get something that really can be watched and loved by people of all Ages Good review My Friend So glad you enjoyed this film and put out a fantastic essay describing Ur love for it While summing up why everyone loved this little masterpiece ❤️

Aww thanks so much Richard! I'm so glad to see your comment here, it really touched me to read it! It's so cool that this film had a profound impact on you. "Through Heaven's Eyes" is a great examination of life's purpose and how we all have worth, for sure. To have it be a story based in religion and to have the legacy it has today is extremely commendable!!!
