I feel like I'm the only one who truly sympathises with rameses, he just wanted the validation and approval of his father, it's a cruel cycle of generational trauma. he's really just an insecure child who only wanted the approval of his dad and did horrible things because he didn't understand the gravity of his actions

that’s exactly the tragedy of his character, and why moses never feels any pride or vindication for ruining him. he was destiny’s pawn.

Yes, plus adding that Ramses all his life was raised as a God, and made believed he was a God himself. Egyptians saw their rulers as God's who had come to watch over them before eventually returning back with all the other God's. But essentially, Ramses did believe he was God, and then his brother, who he loved all his life and he saw as equals, finally comes back. But with to what him seems as a, crackhead religion he's never heard of. Telling him what he was taught and what he believed in wasn't true and that he wasn't the true God or even any God at all. At the same time, his brother wanted to take what was egypts workforce. Sure, Ramses was stubborn and wanted things his way. But he couldn't accept it since being treated as a God, a no was never an answer to any of his commands or request. But if maybe he tried to hear out Moses, they could have worked a compromise. And gone back to using Egyptian citizens, and slaves sold to them from other places as the new workforce, like how it was when Jose was sold off as a slave by his brother's.

What does "why you must call down another blow?" Mean, What does that mean?
@apww4109
@apww4109 8 ай бұрын
Super late, but the term "blow" as a noun is sometimes used to refer to a physical assault of some kind, like a punch to the face or a strike with a weapon. (e.g.: "He struck a mighty blow with his hammer!")

I mean sure he did continue the family generation of slavery that his father started but if being honest he was carrying the burden of the prince of Egypt his father gave him the generational trauma of the burden of this role telling him he would never be good enough and that the kingdom would surely fall in his hands he just wanted to make his father proud and in the ambition towards these expectations even after his fathers death he was blind of the damage he was causing to achieve it because else he would face the wrath of the despair of not being good enough he and his people suffered many plages and left Egypt in ruins all because God wanted to show off his power "I shall harden his heart" God said and to top it off his brother Moses who he loved so much as his brother even though they shared no blood came back after years of being unsure of what happened to him only to come back as a foe and he lost his first and only son after all this and lost his army in the sea after trying to get revenge for his son

me neither. Just because his actions make sense doesn’t mean they were okay. Sick of people trying to be edgy and different by supporting characters like that. It’s fine to have a different opinion but still you’re not special or some philosophical genius for recognizing that he was indeed raised a certain way and acted the way he did because of it.

Maybe its the stupid theorist in me or maybe jsut me being an atheist, but the entire story of exodus sounds like maybe the one time where god or at least "a god" if you accept the more polytheist version of creation. Perhaps the hebrew god was lashing out because hes in danger. I know its not exactly how people like to look at deities, but if gods truely need prayer, tell me a god isnt dead if everyone has fgorgotten about him or doesnt pray to it or even know it exists. If everyone who beleived in the hebrew god was enslaved and about to be hunted, i think its extremely interesting to videw these events as a god whos pushed into a corner where he absolutely needs to protect his people or he will fade away into obscurity. Sort of american gods esque. But if i a god and have this kind of power i need to make a statemnt and get a prophet to work my miracles through them. Healing people and giving prophecy is one thing but splitting the ocean and the whole pillar of fire added onto the plagues is like, next level god war type shit. I would love a version of this story where the egyptian pantheon is at war with god. could be cool

i really love the mythological take you’ve taken on the story in this. and it truly would say a lot about what type of deity the hebrew god is that this is the route it took against an entire pantheon.
