the actors really did a great job knowing its a fantasy comedey but they dont let the audience know it except for few instasces with the characters doing something comical it reminds me of mel brooks style of comedy

The casting was a huge part of what made this movie for me. When I read the book, it's these people I see in my mind :)

It really was perfectly cast. The script was good but not so perfect that it couldn’t be ruined by the wrong picks. But no they got the perfect person for every role.

I had seen this film at least 30 times on VHS before DVD even came out!😂 It's easily one of the top five most perfect movies ever made. There's not one false frame or bad scene and there's literally not one actor in the film that could have been replaced with a better fit. I had tears in my eyes just watching this video so visceral are the memories it conjures. My fervent hope is that it's never remade. As Elwes said, there's a shortage of perfect films in the world, it would be a shame to damage this one.

This is old but popped up on my feed 15 years later. I love how Rob and Clint Eastwood put enormous thought into casting and then let the actors go for it with their characters. They're humble about their role as director. Actors who work with Eastwood say he barely seems to be directing - but obviously he does it with genius, as does Rob, although idk what Rob's style is on set. The one thing I did hear about is that before Billy Crystal's scene Rob said to him "Forget the lines". Genius improv ensued. The scene took many takes because the actors and crew couldn't keep from laughing out loud. Rob even had to leave the set! Too bad they didn't cover the casting of Crystal here.

This casting is so perfect. Especially Buttercup, Reiner found a tall, elegant, striking girl who you still believed was a real person. Her acting was also extremely good. You actually believe that she became this cold person who was intending to kill herself.

People love this movie so much, nothing they did could come close. The Rock would be Fezick, Chris Pratt would be Westley, Kevin Hart would be Vincinni, John Legizamou or Vin Diesel would be Montoya, Morgan Freeman would be the grandfather, Sydney Sweeney would be Buttercup

The rock /Andre the Giant Kevin Hart/Wally S. Ryan Reynolds /Cary Elwes Kiera Knightly/Robin Wright John Legizamou or Oscar Isaac/ MP (Montoya) Morgan Freeman /Peter F. The movie would be universally hated by fans of the orginal, it'd probably make money so they'd make 2 more. Like fast and the furious or Jumanji series 😖😖😖😖
