You are confusing free movement of people within the EU and the Schengen Area. And yes, the UK was never in the Schengen Area, but is now also outside the EU. Ireland on the other hand is still in the EU but is not in the Schengen Area (freedom of movement still applies to Ireland though, but again this is only for Europeans).

I think there are some inaccuracies in what you say: We have never been able to travel into the UK without showing passport! In Continental EU, you say the border is closed and there is no free movement: Wrong. I pass a EU border every day, into Germany. And out again the same day. There is absolutely no change in the formalities I need to fulfill, namely bring my passport along. That has always been the case. What is new is, the police stand there more often, and they may on occasion stop and say "Guten Tag", to which we reply "Guten Tag". They may ask to see the passport I have always been obliged to bring along anyway. So there is free movement with a possible 12 second delay.

Hungary is safer than Western Europe, that's definitely true. But there is also quite a big poverty, I never seen so many homeless people in any city as it was in Budapest. Also there are many poor and backward regions, with strange, frustrated and not very well educated people. And that's native Hungarians, not immmigrants.

Is it not time to honestly evaluate how the world view of people born and raised under different political ideologies in European countries have influenced and shaped Europe.
