Precons should be CC size, with how to play instructions inside, and the instructions should include an itemized list of what cards to remove to be able to get straight into a Blitz match if preferred.

Instructions in a miniature book would be awesome - but that’s coming from an old guy once excited when reading MtG 4th ed rulebook on the bus home.

I started recently and picked up the Levia blitz deck, and found something interesting. The cards are mostly sorted by name and pitch, but near the back of the deck are a bunch that aren't. Conveniently, those are exactly the ones I would be looking to remove. So they clearly know what each deck could stand to upgrade but they're only subtly hinting at which ones those are

Blitz is what introduced me to FaB, but I find the process of expanding the deck really overwhelming. I’m so new to the game that I don’t even know where to start. Especially as a Lexi player.
@Sloopdoop2 жыл бұрын
A decent start is to just add the 3rd copy of every card. But the formats are different, so you'd want to tweak the deck as you play it more

Mtg player starting fab here. To be fair, i wouldn't have tried cc fab, it's just too much. I loved the blitz lighter setup, if i want to play for hours i would go back to mtg.

I’m still calling that the next classic battles will be classic constructed with new (and balanced) versions of prism and chane. Give them the dori treatment. Shadow vs light to get 1) two new cc heroes and 2) get the light/shadow cards back into circulation
@TangibleTravis2 жыл бұрын
This would be the perfect solution. Not only would it provide a pre-constructed selection of decks in the other format, it would remove the confusion that comes with pre-constructed Classic Battles not using the Classic Constructed format. Along with the lore book, LSS could include the rules card and a sideboard card explaining how to build them with cards from boosters packs.
@serenades6662 жыл бұрын
I like it.
@baartsma2 жыл бұрын
Nope. I think they are going from set to set. Also, I don't think you are right about the CC prediction (because it is supposed to be for beginners). My prediction would be that Viserai (LL in Blitz) and Azalea (underperformer in all formats) get a new hero & weapon.
@stehlik2 жыл бұрын
While I like the idea, I think it would be a bit risky move for LSS, especially in the light of existing Blitz decks. They probably would ask for higher price than the blitz ones and that alone makes it a less likely product for a new player to pick up.

I'm a magic the gathering player, who's recently picked up a few FAB blitz decks to try out, and the gameplay is absolutely stellar! However, I've wanted to try the 'full fat' version of the game, and I've had no idea where to start. We have access "challenger decks" in MTG, which seem to be pretty much exactly what you're asking for at around 4:50, and absolutely, this is the kind of thing I was looking to see if it existed in FAB. They're not ultra-competitive, but for the most part, plenty powerful to be played at Friday Night Magic and not get absolutely hosed. They've got a nice balance of desirable cards, but budgeted enough to not be absolutely stacked. I'd love to see something like this brought into FAB!
@glowlog7 ай бұрын
Yeah, I bought 2 blitz decks to play with a friend and we had no idea how to play. The official video on the FaB video isn't too clear either.
@johannwitt18542 жыл бұрын
Hero decks should come with enough cards to make CC deck. The blitz version would be pre-assembled with a rules insert, and the extra cards for CC off to the side with it’s own rules insert. Check out the new LotR LCG pre-con decks - they come with a main deck, some additional cards for future customization, and a strategy booklet.
@icomment2226 Жыл бұрын
LSS needs to make both kinds of product: Blitz Precons as they are making now *AND* Classic Constructed Precons (similar to MtG’s Challenger decks). It would make sense because most of the CC players that I faced at the World Championships last year came from Magic. So why not introduce “a way-in” for big events that is already familiar to Magic the Gathering players?
@icomment2226 Жыл бұрын
Now these CC Precons *will* be expensive, but you are dealing with MtG players. You are dealing with people who spend $50-$200 apiece on a small piece of cardboard that is *completely useless* and *completely irrelevant* to anyone who is not a part of the TCG market. And usually, they need 4 (FOUR) copies of this piece of cardboard... So, why not?
@Nytrusdeathcyde Жыл бұрын
it can be reasonably priced they don't need to be 100 % competitive as a precon deck
@supermarioblacktiger2 жыл бұрын
Either a cc precon or a cc expansion for existing blitz decks isn't a bad idea. Want to play Fai in CC but only got the blitz deck? Here's 20 something cards for 5 dollars that includes the adult hero. Smash the two together and what do you get? Destroyed by serious players but at least a legal cc deck.
@777CrimsonChaos2 жыл бұрын
MTG has their challenger decks that emulate meta decks for standard and now pioneer. They’re meant to give you a decent starting point that’s playable as is, but can be upgraded as you go if you want to take it to a more competitive level. I think there could easily be a similar product for CC here.

Good points. I started with blitz precons, but have been reluctant to put a CC deck together. If it started as a CC deck I could choose my format easier
@retrofraction2 жыл бұрын
So, the format that currently has the most attendance this week is commoner at my locals. I think it’s mainly that since there are no huge combos it’s a bit easier to jump into with zero knowledge. But like any format it’s also important to bring setups. The organizer brings all of the heroes in pre-made commoner decks and it takes a lot of the hassle away. I think that could be done with CC but it might mean reprints… but if they started with the early heroes it would be cool to get a base deck with decent or even Legendary equipment.

I haven't even played a game yet with my little Briar blitz precon, but I'm already trying to figure out an efficient and cost-effective way of getting started with CC. That seems to be the most common Armory format in my area and I'd love to participate in Armory Events! I would LOVE to see CC precons! Additionally, a large part of hosting pro tours and other competitive events is to generate excitement for your game. It's advertising. Why is LSS advertising with Classic Constructed as the main format without offering a new player experience for it? I do hope that CC precons will be part of the "improved new player experience" that LSS has been teasing.
@Sloopdoop2 жыл бұрын
I think the only reason they've stuck to Blitz is because they can only release so many products (still being a tiny company) and Blitz is the easiest format for new players. But hopefully we get CC Precons sometime soon

I have nothing against the ideas here but honestly the majority of people would much prefer the shorter, easier to digest format before they even attempt a longer and potientially more complicated format. I think more options is never a bad thing but that might be a bit of overload for a person that is just getting into the game without any research or knowledge of the game beforehand. Realistically starting from a blitz deck and working up, which encourages learning the sets that are out there and the cards in them helps build essential skills to creating a deck around a hero or improving one by stepping a deck up to CC format. Like I said though, I'm not at all against the pre-constructed offerings being a two in one sort of product, it just depends on how LSS wants to continue going forward with the new player experience I suppose.

@Sloopdoop Жыл бұрын
Pretty much, yeah. But even better because FaB is non-rotational so the decks would last longer. Even if a hero is no longer top of the meta, they're likely still VERY playable at the LGS level, which the decks would be designed for

They need to tweak Blitz fr fr. I legit hate the format. It's build terrible..When you get put on the backfoot during Blitz its impossible to to turn the game around. You'll get continuously pelted without being able to counter or form a Strategy. The format can be good just needs to be tweaked.
@Sloopdoop2 жыл бұрын
Blitz is by far the most skill intensive format in FaB because one small mistake can cost you the game. It definitely feels bad, but I'm not sure it HAS to change as CC is the primary format for FaB. But I think a healthy banlist can definitely help keep Blitz playable
