Yeah I think the biggest problem is when a gorilla tag copy-cat charges real money to buy something. For example, in brick tag you can buy mods, which make the game less fun as those could have been completely free. These kinds of devs are earning money by stealing something that was created with hard work by someone else.

Well Brock tag didn’t take gorilla tag and retexture it. Brick tag re-made gorilla tag brick by brick and even made an original horror. It’s not just a retexture, but a whole entire new map, made to look like the gorilla tag one. Brick tag hasn’t stolen any assets from gorilla tag to make the game, besides the movement which isn’t stealing because it’s open source.

Would games that have their own mechanics but use the gtag locomotion and have a tag concept be considered copying? For example a game like Yeeps, it uses the code and has a tag concept but you can build things, they have a tech web where you slowly progress to better cosmetics used for tag, and has quests so you can earn more in game currency while not having to spend money

I think there is a fine line between copy and not copy, for instance the game that is in 1:46 is a direct copy however Bricktag used their own assets and I don't think it should be talked about like some other games.

I am actually making a fan game, it is about hippos and may be one of the few fan games to not have a stump. We will have it so you can change you eye color, which no fan game has. You will also have “highlights” so you can basically have 2 colors. And the camera mod is gonna be $1! The cheapest mods are $3. And buying from the ATM you would get a lot more then any other fan games.

Lemming has a good point, although I think it's too late because everybody already have the source code and rips off the map. Either way I'm not sure they will stop. It depends, for Brick Tag, I feel like it might get taken down because HOW IT IS THE SAME exact thing like Gorilla Tag. In my opinion, I would say STOP the copies, ripoffs, and keep the fangames going because it inspires Gorilla Tag, and just imagine how your work will just be TAKEN without ANY permission at all and the worst part is that THEY ARE MAKING literal MONEY off of it. Also everything is not placed in the same places, they are pretty close but many of them are not exact showing human error.

Also many parts of the gorilla tag map are not really solid objects and just paper thin models so it wouldnt work either.

i completely understand lemming being mad at this because they didnt even make their own maps and are making money off of this, but i feel like the map should be usable ONLY under these conditions. no in game purchases or cost for the game only a certain version or below only a few maps can be used. i would say forest, city, canyons, and maybe mountains over 60% of content must be original, such as maps, cosmetics, you name it adding on to this, no cosmetics from gtag can be used credits along with this games must be approved by a team or lemming himself before published they are approved by meeting these conditions, being deemed original enough, and being considered high enough quality once again i understand the maps were made by lemming himself so it's just rude to steal them, but as i said 60% of the game must be original, which primarily targets maps also i saw alot of hate towards gtag horror which i understand why but i just wanna defend it cuz it's the only gtag horror game that scared me there are many new cosmetics, only a few are ripped the version is old. it is literally the old thanksgiving update there is an ENTIRE MAP SERIES (the backrooms) which is the mian hype of the game imo yes i do agree some things could be different like the name not being almost a whole copy but i still think it got hated on a little too much call me a yapper all u want lol

They should remove the mod menus. First of all, if they are built ingame, they aren’t even mod menus, they’re just paid cheats, and second of all they ruin the matches. I got rid of the game the day it came out because of those, and I was so excited too.
