interesting thought, I've never really thought about that when watching tutorials and it does make more sense to be filmed that way, great video btw

One problem for guitar teachers is that they would need two pov cameras, left hand and right hand, but it would be nice to see pov lessons.

Do you have a list of YT channels that teach in POV style please...Thanks

You raise a really good point - I guess the POV wouldn’t offer the same optics as a frontal personality, but I could definitely see channels adopting what you’ve just shown and being very successful because of it.

spitting facts. most guitar lesson videos are useless to me. I watch them, then give up and just look up the tabs instead

Not like the teacher sitting in front of you isn’t the same. POV is better for online. A teacher saying “No play it again” is better than the internet.

Or even 1-on-1 classes over the internet is better than POV videos, or any type of video lesson as a matter of fact.

Being left-handed I actually prefer the "traditional" angle instead of the pov

I hear you but I think the biggest reason is that before online lessons were even an option, real IRL lessons were done with the teacher sitting directly in front of you just like that mirrored image example you showed. So online lessons look to replicate that as they are often advertised and being just that, a private lesson between the teacher and viewer. Also hate to be that guy but I'd find it really disorientating to flip between POV and traditional shots as the lesson progresses since it's a full 180 angle change and tilt down. I think pov has it's place, but I'd suggest including POV shots as "repeated" footage angle almost like a replay in sports.

Good point, the problem is ultimately live footage will never have a clear pov view so when u want to learn the stuff you truly love and made u pick up guitar to begin with, you will be out of luck anyway.

good point. is there any vid software that can turn a video upside down and backwards? i actually prefer the mirror view, but not flipped

Im cool with the mirroring i understand how 3d space works however a top down close up onto the left hand makes seeing the exact note crystal fuckin clear Amd now i must return to blindness

y use no pinky
@JamesBowling14 күн бұрын
I avoid using my pinky when playing blues simply because it lacks the strength for bends/hammer ons. Harder to get the leverage from my hand for smooth bends. It depends on the style I’m playing what fingers I’m using.

What about all the years before KZbin and people learned from watching other guitar players? They figured it out. Maybe the social media generation's brains aren't as adaptable.

It's not an argument. Online guitar learning could have been much easier with POV angle of recording and the fact that its possible to leans stuff by "traditional" recording of tutorial doesn't mean shit
