The Problem with the One Piece Nationals

I recently attended the One Piece Card Game 2023 Championship held at BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest 23-24 World Tour in Los Angeles and let me tell you...it was a disaster!

The Bandai booth staff “white jacket” had one aggressive person that was not nice telling people to move and saying you can’t do scavenger anymore even though people were still able to. The merch line was the major fail… they closed the retail booth without telling people who waited in line for an hour. When they got to the line it was only cards and people couldn’t buy more than one line of product. It was pretty wild. The hot dog ladies outside were more organized at this event lol. I was hoping to play in side events. All booked. And when I was told there were signups going on Sunday, it was already too late since announcements were nonexistent. It also wasn’t spectator favored like it should be since most of the players were players from the tournament… Also 500 open spots because of no shows for tournament that could’ve easily been filled… Everything was poorly organized. Even the workers were confused. Retail was a sht show. Other events were a sht show. And all of these complaints barely scratch the surface. Easily the worst event I’ve ever been too. Gave them a 2 on the survey and I hope everyone rated them poorly also. I live within a reasonable driving distance. I feel bad for the people who had to fly in to witness such a fck up of an event. I would honestly sell everything and quit if that was the case.

Ah, I'm sorry to hear that! I forgot to mention it, but you brought up a good point - leaving honest feedback on the survey for the event hopefully resonates with Bandai.

I was a spectator, drove 12 hrs, didn't get to play in ANY side events. I did get to do One Piece demo, but not UA and missed OP promo giveout cards from the booth

Also bud Play! TCG has been running events for a long time. Stop making excuses for them.

Only thing that sucks right now is Core TCG is getting alot of the blame when they were not the ones hosting the tournament, It was Play TCG. Core was just the supplier

Omg I did notice you were there! I wanted to say hi but I was shy :( Also in regards to the event. I've attended plenty of poke regional and yugiog regional/nats and the event itself was super fun and definitely better then yugioh events but being a player and competing was AWFULLLL. I went x2 and got completely screwed cause of cutting off the last round.

So I have a friend who was working the demo booths, While you say they didnt open anything up until 1pm which is what they were supposed to do to give spectators a chance to sign up for things both the demo booth and side events were letting players of the main event "pre register" for these events starting as early as 9:30am. Both the demo booth and the side events were completely filled before spectators were even let into the building. Bandai is the only major TCG that I've ever been excluded from the event for not wanting to play the main event over side events. Absolutely awful even all around.
