As an Italian, this is so disappointing. The show became so popular even though it wasn't created with the huge Disney budgets. Italy has some diversity but is mostly white, so it was great to see so much inclusion in a kids show of 20 YEARS AGO. They ruined it.

The idea is that the faries should have magic representing things associated with ancient "Irish"magic so Tecna; the fairy of technology, wouldn't have fit because technology doesn't fit with the dark ancient magic theme they were going for. This is also why Musa is now the mind fairy rather than music because the mind is like telepathy and illusions and stuff while music magic is more modern

Music is really ancient, and music gods and goddesses are too, the name of Muse references the existence of the muses, greatly related to music. So there is no excuse for that change. That would've let the mind magic free for tecna, wich would make a lot more sense (although, technology is also as old as humanity so there's no need to change a single thing). To me everything seems just lazy and rushed.

Flora tenía un color de piel que aunque no era oscuro si era mas tostadita; y Musa era asiática, y que no vengan a decir "pero tiene un 10% de Singapur" (o cual sea el porcentaje) porque eso no dice nada, no es asiática porque uno de sus bisabuelos lo sea. Así que en eso estoy de acuerdo con vos que eligieron chicas que definitivamente no tienen nada que ver con lo que eran los personajes originales y redujeron la diversidad. Mi comentario fue mas que nada para los que creen que decir "latino" o "hispano" se refiere al color de piel. Como el caso de Claire de Trollhunters que es descendiente de mexicanos y vi gente diciendo que era discriminador que ella fuera blanca porque "los latinos no son blancos", cuando encima el mismo creador de esa serie es mexicano. Pero volviendo al tema de Winx, si flora era hispana, en mi opinión corresponde que la actriz también lo sea, y lo mismo con Musa como asiática. Creator of Winx didn't forget about the sweet sweet netflix cash. Having said that, I at first didn't understand the whole "they whitewashed Flora" argument seeing as originally looked like normal southern europeans, which are white just more tan and as the original show was Italian a southern european country it makes sense. Though then I realized that to americans she looks like a latina. Having that that, Terra just looks off on so many levels from Flora (probably why they had to give her a different name?). And I believe the actress playing Musa is half Indian, but that's still rather far from Japanese. As for Tecna, RIP tecna... Granted in the modern age I can understand why they removed her as modern tech feels less magical than it used to in the days of dail-up and brick phones. So she might end up coming off as a "tech-nerd without any magic on a magic school".

Ok but what we talk about how they did Stella so dirty? And I'm not just talking about the clothes.. I've only watched the first episode and I can't believe they made her so mean and bitchy. Stella is Bloom's best friend. She is the one who introduced Bloom to Alfea! and even lied for her so she could be a student there! She might be a little shallow but she is so loyal and bubbly and nice! When she finds out about Bloom's crush on Sky, she fully supports her and even helps her sneak into Red Fountain (along with the other fairies) when Bloom is feeling insecure about where they stand in the relationship. And just why did they make Bloom and her mom have such a bad relationship?! Bloom's parents are so supportive and loving. It honestly would've been a more novel idea to leave her parents as the loving characters they actually are, seeing as these type of shows love making teens rude and have shitty relationships with their parents..

To be honest I still prefer the animated Winx Club series more than the live action Netflix's "Fate: The Winx Saga". Because it's strange to do a live action series featuring the Winx Club as I'm aware the charcters and the story is going to be slightly different than the animated Winx Club series. Also the characters looked too old to play teenagers and the series is more drama rather than a magical adventure like the animated Winx Club series. I really don’t get who this is for. Did people like Winx Club because it was dark and moody? No, they liked it because it was over the top glittery and colourful. I’m tired of things having to be either super childish or try-hard edgy. (Like the new Winx cartoon VS this reboot.) It’s not an either-or thing. You can have mature themes and still be fun and colourful. Also: The best part of Winx was the twist. the fairy world was a 2000’s idea of a futuristic high-tec city, with that sparkly transparent purple aesthetic from the early 2000’s. The fairies weren’t based on nature, their powers are all very different. (Music, plants, technology, sun and moon, dragons.) And Netflix changed it to generic witchy fantasy with an old castle school.
