I think the honest truth is that wild rift simply doesn't have a broad enough player base to keep high-skilled players happy: in early seasons there were high quality high skill games, but at the expense of 10-30 minute wait times for a game; people/KZbinrs were very vocal about how much they hated this, especially for a mobile game, so the devs changed accordingly and now we have quicker games at the expense of quality.

Today I played 6 games, and in 3 of them I had teammates who were inting. In the match that took me to the demote, I had a lvl 30 account (Diamond 3) with KDA 1.3 who was absent the whole match. When you don't get the inting, you get the potatoes. It's painful this game

Glad this is finally coming to the surface. I made a detailed post on reddit going in depth on how matchmaking works awhile back but it got removed by mods since it mentioned lovers q and according to the mods "losers q does not exist matchmaking is fair and riot devs are angels". Spent alot of time researching to make that post and made sure to keep it factual most of the time and when I was speculating I made it clear that I was. Never wasting time on a detailed reddit post again.

I sent a ticket about this matchmaking thing. My issue was, I'm an emerald player but I got teamed up with iron and silver rank AFK enjoyers after I carried the previous games as a support. I dont mind their ranks at first, until the mid lane inted 4 times within 5 ~ 6 mins of the game then went afk followed by the solo and ADC. After the game, the system detected the AFKs saying they will be penalized for their behavior. I was frustrated but let it go as I want to stay calm and collected playing the next game. Guess what, the next game I got queued with 2 of the same AFK players, I'm very tempted to dodge the draft phase but that would mean losing by default so I bet on the other 2 teammates and see if we can carry and win. Next thing I know, I started believing horrors could happen twice. Here's their reply to my ticket from last October; (First part of the reply was an apology paragraph so I didn't include it anymore) 2nd Part: _"Please note that the matchmaking system always tries to place groups of similarly skilled players together but we all know our expectations of how the game should be played could vary with other people. Matchmaking is an area that we’ve been adjusting constantly over time, but one thing we want to do better is tightening the rank spread between players in the same game. We think some variance is acceptable, considering that players at different ranks can have the same Matchmaking Rating (or MMR, the system that works behind the scenes to put matches together), and we want to continue making games fairer as time goes on."_ 3rd part was that "Making -No- Sense of Matchmaking" attachment.

For 2 seasons now I noticed 1 thing. I got all the way to emerald win streak after win streak, then the KDA thing happens because mine was high. Matchmaking put me with inting Sion, autofill jungles and top. That is when my losing streak started. Happens for two seasons now.

It sounds awful but getting svp is the worst thing you can do. Not only do you lose but you are setting yourself up to get another losing team. Honestly if you can stomach it, start inting if you know you are going to lose.

The same shit happen to me. I play 100 matches to get from emerald 4 to diamond 2. I earn MVP 41 times(most of my win I was the mvp) and I swear when I hit diamond, EVERY game was a struggle like my team is just legit clueless 😅 wth, like we’re playing a different game almost 🤷‍♂️

The only way you can hard carry your team in WR is by playing jungle. I’m support main and got demoted at the start of the season from emerald 1(where I started) to plat 3. I queued for autofill after that and mostly I got jungle in plat and emerald elo. I climbed with kha zix or Volibear very easily from plat 3 to D3. It’s actually crazy the state this game is in right now. If you are a good player ADC is also super strong but the whole map control depends heavily on jungle.

I try and play the game the right way the way its suppose to be played and i can barely get out of Plat. Then there are players I meet that have no idea how to play the game and don't even know what Gank means and I see them in emerald already. I just can't anymore

my K.D literally dropped from 8.5 to 6 because of their "fair" grouping system. im currently playing in master and i can confirm: High K.D = Bad Team Low K.D = You can afk and win the gane. also most game gonna filled with a smurfs i think they're also one of the factor that affect current matchmaking situation.

I seriously can't climb past plat because every time I get on a win streak I get 10 games in a row in either diamond or bronze lobbies and I fall back down to Plat 4

I honestly gave up playing ranked because it felt like I was 1v9 to barely win while others could run it down and fly through ranked. It doesn’t feel good and they could fix this all but giving way more stars then you lose for example like +20 vs -4 lp

I always have a HUGE lose streak in diamond 3 and 2, since season 4 (where I started to play ranked). For season 4 and 5 I give up and ended both of seasons in diamond, from season 6 I started to get better and also I changed my mind so I stoped tilt and finish all my season in master (even 2 times in gm as well) with “only” 200/250 games (for me is actually a lot of games cuz I have a job etc lol). At the first I didn’t notice, but in season 9 (where I get gm) I started to think something isn’t right, in some games I have a 4 potatoes vs people who actually know how to play league (ending my games really frustrating with people just walk around the map doing laterally nothing.. maybe they count baron feet 😂), some games I play with good people vs potatoes and other games I can actually play 1v9 as adc cuz everyone are just AI I guess.. never understand how is it acceptable in high tier. Also I’m not a player that play in a full team of premade, I play most of the time solo

I have reached out to riot several times to point out the issues raised here. The biggest 2 problems that I think would be most important to change are: 1. You are punished for playing well. As a skilled player you are forced to be the carry for lesser players in any given game. It is a team game, and even if you play perfectly, others can in fact hard lose games regardless of your efforts. Ergo, you are punished for playing well as all your games will be harder to win as the matchmaking gives you lesser players. 2. Lane matchup mismatch. The algorithm doesn't attempt to evenly match lanes which effectively amplifies the previous issue. When one or two lanes get stomped, due to the snowball nature of the game, there is almost never a way of carrying your feeding teammates, as you are facing enemy players who are fed and your team is behind. This makes wins and losses both feel like random luck and no matter how you play you are just playing odds. If you play well every game you can affect the overall odds slightly, and you can climb though it, but it takes an ungodly amount of games.

I enjoyed the game a lot.. spent more than 1300USD on the game, have a skin for almost all champions. I am quitting until matchmaking is fixed, I have > 5 KDA and svp/mvp about 30-40% of my matches, I have a 0-7 team mate every single game and it is agonizing every time i queue up. Seeing the 95% winrate new account inting sions really dissapoints me with how easily the system can be abused Also how real it is... not my imagination that I'm purposely being matched with bad players for the rank I am in. Thank you for bring more awareness to it and calling riot out. This matchmaking has been so bad. Every game feels like a constant 1v9 only to do you best and get put in the exact same position of 1v9ing again. Previous seasons it was so easy for me to get to emerald (about 30 games or less) and stop (just bc, i prefer aram) but i spent the same amount of games as the past few seasons combined just to get back to emerald after the season reset. It's actually appalling to get svp and mvp only to straight up get queued up with literal bronze and the enemy team has diamonds. Even ARAM is turning to trash with the MM.

Great video. LoL was "casual" because it had low requirements, but nowadays - pretty much everyone has a mobile phone in their pocket and WR games are few times shorter than LoL ones. It's hard to progress in a team-based game with casuals.

The problem of the game is that riot games stopped the development of the competitive component of the game - cybersport is only in Asia and nowhere else. The game has poor player growth in all regions except Asia. As a result, riot games are engaging in questionable solutions so that matches can be searched faster. They could have read Valve's patent on the Trust Factor system and made some conclusions based on its content, to make some good and bad decisions for themselves. This system worked quite well in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. For example, there were conditions that newcomers and old-timers of the game very rarely met in one match.

The issues with matchmaking in my opinion 1, PVP should be based on your account level. Me, over level 100 and grandmaster with a lot of experience should not ever play with or against someone level 11 and having played less than 50 games. 2, ranked lane preferences are often ignored. I had one game where every single person had a different preferred lane, yet nobody got the lane they wanted. Not one. And I was autofill. Made no sense than the ADC main got jungle and the Mid main got ADC. 3, the stupid silver badge. I will wait an extra 2-5 minutes if it means I won't have a diamond 4 playing with me in a grandmaster level game. What's the point of ranks if players so far below you can still play with/against you?

And no, i dont had "priority" in that match..... Agree with you, best not play support (unless you pick invasive champ [high skill, high reward type] ) in soloQ this season. Maybe you can try switching to jungle role just to avoid jungle player who don't evaluate the balance between elder and baron. I am the type that enjoy support role the most (well, less burden if blundered) ,reach diamond with senna several season ago, then leave wild rift due to genshin ,but when came back this season, support role can't work anymore. So I switch to jungle Amumu.

So I switched to adc and now I’m playing jinx or xayah.

Dude Im not even being toxic but I noticed the teammate thing. Early in the season they intentionally paired me with 3 losing lanes (bot, mid, jg) for literally 15 games in a row to force losses and I couldn’t do anything about it. And the games were like clockwork which they’d all feed to the point where me being 3-0 after laning phase was literally useless.

I'm noticing comments from live chat talking about wanting to shift to China to take this game "seriously". CN server solo queue player here, D1 in season 11 & this is my first season in wildrift. I shit you not even in high elo its very common to find inters & people with zero macro knowledge or itemization logic. I know Chinese server is called the toughest server in the world but not because you will necessarily find mechanically gifted players in every game but because solo queue even in China is a mess & it's not easy to climb without premades. It's like if you're someone good at your role or let's just say you're a tryhard, the game actively teams you up with allies that that you'd be forced to carry & still lose because they don't know how to play the champ they picked, has no concept of pushing or cleaning lanes & has no idea what they're banning cuz they're banning just to ban.

Good luck with that. They raised the minimum requirements from diamond to master and then added a new rank above Challenger on top of this. Only 25k per region can be grandmaster or above at any given time. Riot wants the playerbase diamond. So I hope they have the tools to push folks there. Oh wait...there's a trade off for helping to get people to the higher ranks, and not many is liking this trade off

I dont know much about the matchmaking system some says "if you play good with decent KDA, you will teamup with bad player.." and some says "If you play inting, you will meet better player that will carry you because thats the matchmaking system work.." I mean the Inting strat is true because I tested it from Plat 3 to Diamond 4 just in 2 days. (ive stucked in Plat 3-4 for almost 100 games with 5.5 KDA and 48% win rate.) So I think Inting was a really good strat and idea.. so I keep inting and ranked up to diamond 1. But the funny thing happened which is I lose 12 streak games.. I was like "Wait... Isnt Inting gonna give you a good teammate? What did I do wrong now? KDA 0/12/0 overall.. what happened???" I am getting tilted for that because what the fck is that supposed to mean? 😂 Whats wrong with the Matchmaking system suddenly? I already lose 3-4 games straight and I thought its fine because sometimes you lose so next game and after that will fine.. but bruh 12 straight games lose? 😂 I am very lost..

I quit playing wildrift 4 months ago. And I decided to take a peak once again and just have a few games for a couple of days and as soon as i got on the matchmaking. I notice that the matching system is very unfair, I'm level 45 and my teammates are only level 25 and 17 and below while my opponents are level 80+ and above. Once I'm in the game my team mates are like newbies or a.i and start feeding the enemy going 0/10 within 10 minutes into the game. I just think of it as a warm up and accept defeat. But this situation just kept on going for several games i always got paired to level 30 and below while the enemy team are 60 to 100 plus level and btw I'm plat 1 as i just returned and missed a few seasons and my team mates are gold 4 while the enemy team are plat 1 to emerald 1 and the worse thing is they're past ranks are master to grandmaster while my team mates are peak platinum and emeralds. This game is beyond unrepaired if riot doesn't fix the current matchmaking.

After playing this Game For 7 yrs on PC and mobile , the only reason i can think of their matchmaking is designed this way bc Bad Players would get so much loses and just would Not Play the Game that often if so. Personally the thing that tilts me the most isn’t all of this, it’s the fact that there is no thought from ANY players sometimes. No one knows when a game is over when certain champs are so far ahead, no one knows how to rotate, no one knows how or where to ward, no one knows the limits of their champs or even really where their dmg comes from, no one knows fucking shit about the game and it makes it really discouraging to play. On pc lol, players in a certain elo might not be mechanically gifted, but the knowledge of what to do when behind or ahead, the knowledge of the game in general is there. and at most ranks in wild rift there’s NO thought about anything

The matchmaking really sucks for good players who are trying to climb. Good players have to suffer the consequences and get stuck in their ranks due to being paired with players who have zero game sense and bad attitudes. It's completely put me off playing ranked. It's very obvious how the MM works because when I play with one of my mates, who isn't very good at the game, we typically perform way better because we have teammates that know how to play.

I’ve been playing since season 2, with only a break during season 4. Matchmaking now is not great, but I don’t remember the old one without flaws either. Back then, past Diamond, it was a duo/trio fest. Most of the games from master onward was filled with them, and as a solo q support main, it was a pain trying to win against top players that were also coordinating using voice chat. I get that if you’re good enough, that shouldn’t matter, but some of these duo/trio were legit pro players. It’s like solo-Qing and being matched against Faker and Keria duoing on the other team.

Personally, all hell breaks lose after the 60th mark (Challenger). 90% of games will be filled with high number of games low Master players. Getting those 40 marks to sovereign is hell on earth.

I really wish Riot would make a ban wave for all of the smurfs like what Dota devs has been doing in their game. I'm only playing solo with my main which is emerald but the games I play feels like I'm playing a master-gm game. And guess what, the lobby is filled with low level account duo abusers. It's always a thing here in SEA server before the end of the ranked season. (different account, same device, same IP, same performance = BAN!)

WR stopped being enjoyable when they started penalizing me for playing well. Consistently get atleast 3 people who throw games on my main. Every. Single. Game. And it’s because I have a 60%+ wr on nearly every champ over 10k+ games. My main acc MMR aftee the changes is so far screwed I either 1v9 carry or lose. No in between ever. I made an alt to climb with sion for a mental health break and to try and enjoy game again. Climbed to gm in days and the consistency of my teammates actually understanding the assignment was nearly every game. And all for what? Because my stats reflect “bad” gameplay? Seriously riot? Then they go and extra step and release items that make inting sion even better and still refuse to address the terrible state that ranked is in.

Its already proven by the statistics that the MM will take into account your KDA into calculation. So i suppose they add up all your team KDA and averaged it to match 2 teams near to this score which is gonna be disastrous. The fact that those inting sions and tryns can get 80% because they contribute no kills/assists and they will always get better team mates going by their negative KDA. If a good player who knows game mechanics playing int will most likely win combined with 4 better team mates. This CERTAINLY explains why i find people with lower kda than me and with obvious lower skill and macro through their match participation % actually CLIMBS easier. Sorry guys Wild Rift is a casual newb friendly game.

Talking about EU-Server... LoversQ AND LosersQ DO EXIST. It is just impossible to believe to have a 16 Games winrate and have Games not longer than 15mins just stomping the enemy team. It was completely effortless to win. Since the last patch tides have turned. I am currently on a 8 games losing streak with play picking (f.e.) rammus toplane and going 0/8. This doenst happen a single time - this happens straight. I even dropped to a 23% winrate last season being hardstuck in E4 (i already reached GM). I watched this for like 4 months now. This game is not about skill anymore but just about being lucky enough not to get the bot-teammates.

Every patch matchmaking is worsen and worsen. I am previous top 10 warwick and pantheon with the rank of gm cant evem climb in emerald now. I feel like the game is 1 vs 9. If you are too good and have a good kda like 20 kills with low deaths you would be pair to 4 dumb teamates or. A bot. I don't know what developers thinking. They are punishing skilled players and rewarding noobs. Now the game feels like pay to win. Or dumb to win

I have full screen shot of me playing to my absolute best but still cannot win. Every match really feels.like a 1v9. Theres always 1 player in the team that is absolutely going to feed kills to enemies with absolutely no game sense whatsoever. Its sickening, but i still play rank for the season rewards. Tbh the title of master etc is BS since ur match based on ur MMR and not ur actual rank display anyways. U could be an inting sion and still be Masters, with an absolute shit KDA. Thats how bad it is.

What skill are we talking about if MMR is not stable and can't be? The number goes up and down and changes your difficulty of matches, regardless of your skill. It's a сlimb resistance system, the harder you play, the stronger the resistance. Stop looking to this system to benefit and care about players. It is only for the developers that players spend more matches from rank A to rank B regardless of what skill the player and the rank he is at right now Listen to the lectures of developers about optimizing the involvement (that's what the developers are called matchmaking is not a secret) You will not hear any words about fair matches, competition and balance blablabla. But you will hear how to calculate how many defeats a player suffers in a row (but why?!) and so on. So the only solution to the problem is to remove the problem - remove mmr and sbmm. And that's it, all other solutions are just masking the problem the system creates resistance and any changes will only change the conditions of who will be worse off, that is in any case someone must suffer.

How about stop making it easier to climb? Marks are a mistake. Being able to stack multiple rank protections for multiple game wins was a mistake. You want fair climbing? Chuck out the 3+ man premade, bring back the point system, and actually be real with players about how well they did in each match, win or lose. Rank should not have to be based purely on if your team made it or not. You have normals and ARAM for this.

The game is hard though even for new players. The matchmaking system purposefully fucks with people who play the game seriously. I've had multiple 10+ game loss streaks and climbed my way back up only to be put back into a slump of AFKs and legit bad players. The game honestly favors the smurf accounts. The people who are at master+ and are tired of losing. There is no value in playing the game regularly because it actively punishes you for that as well. If you play Wilf Rift, do not play ranked. Just play casual games or ARAM and if you want a ranked experience learn Dota 2 or play league on PC. I was Master back in season 2 and now I'm fighting to keep emerald because this dumb shit.
