Glad I got Sonic generations for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC originally

The Sonic part of Sonic X Shadow Gens is the most half hearted no care given "fix what did not need fixing" remaster I have played perhaps in the whole history of remasters, I would have actually prefered they just gave us 1 to 1 resolution bumped 60fps port than any of this revised soullessness.

My belief of Sonic CD's events going with the Time Stones route. Japanese Manual translated by ShenValor. ----------------- This planet, for one month out of a year, comes along in the sky above a large lake: Never Lake. Eggman: “The planet where the Time Stones rest, the Little Planet, will be the perfect fortress!” he said as he anchored Little Planet over Never Lake, starting to build a giant fortress. Then, in order to achieve his ambition of world domination, he started to mobilize to obtain the Time Stones. ----------------- What I get from this is that Eggman has been on Little Planet for a long time, this is why there is already fully corrupted areas (the Act III's). This is also reinforced by the JP manual mentioning "this planet, for one month out of a year, comes along in the sky above a large lake: Never Lake." Which is why he has it anchored. But also... ----------------- Meanwhile, Sonic, who knew nothing, went to go see the Little Planet; to Never Lake… ----------------- Little Planet was a perfect hideout, because people knew it only appeared for one month out of a year, so they would assume on the months it doesn't appear normally, it wouldn't be there to check it out. But Sonic visits it on the month it normally appears, which would imply a year Eggman has been on it. I'd also say Sonic visits Little Planet on the last day of it being above Never Lake, and the events of CD had taken a least a day. ----------------- All the JP manual has to say on the Time Stones. ----------------- “Time Stones”, mysterious stones that allow one to control time freely, rest. The Time Stones can cause events such as a desert becoming a jungle and a polluted lake becoming a beautiful lake…. Nothing more than mysterious events that exceeded time. ----------------- Once Sonic has all 7, the Act III's become untainted by Eggman's corruption. But the present levels will also say "Sonic made a Good Future in Zone 1/2", despite being in the present (or past? FIND OUT), telling us that Little Planet is on a good path. Along with using the Future Signs to travel to the future being the good future versions of the acts, rather than the bad. I don't feel time travel is happening with the Time Stones. Let's say today is September 23, 1993, and I used the Time Stones to remove the corruption that is SatAM, and now we instead got something on the level of the OVA in it's place. It would still be September 23, 1993. But the Past and Future Signs, now we're talking time travel. ----------------- -Bad Ending Eggman had some lasting impact. -Good Ending Everything is back to normal. Because I assume people think this, no, Eggman isn't time traveling, where do we see that ever happening or being implied? I mean, he also only has one Time Stone, he'd need all seven. So long as Eggman has one, and Sonic has six, Sonic can't use them to put things back to the way they were. I can only assume people's brains filled in the gaps of explaining why playing the game again is like as if nothing happened, but that's just more confusing than what is actually happening. (Time travel confirmed in the other Sonic games with multiple endings?!?!) ----------------- So with all that, here's what I think is wrong. Tails: We're travelling through time, Sonic! Sonic: Without the Time Stones? #1 It's a bad reference because what's happening in Generations is nothing like Sonic CD. #2 It implies Sonic believes time travel can only be done with the Time Stones, which he never questioned in 06, or the superior Pontaff written Generations, or whenever Silver appears. Silver's Bio on the SEGA official Fast Friends Forever website states "These days he travels to Sonic's time via mysterious portals that appear when things in the past go awry." #3 The Time Stones don't make you time travel. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now on to the Lost World bit. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -In the superior Pontaff written Generations Classic Sonic sees Eggman get seemingly killed by the Time Eater. Tails 1 and Tails 2 figures out they are travelling through time which is why there is two of each of 'em. Tails is confused to see Eggman alive when Classic Sonic told them he was killed. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This is a plot hole. I'm going to assume when they refer to "Eggman", it's the one from the Generations timeline, because like who else do they mean? The boss fights have been as faithful as you'd expect, with slight differences in gameplay or details like no Super Sonic against Chaos, or no Werehog against Egg Dragoon. Classic Eggman is unaware of the Time Eater being controlled by Modern Eggman. Do I need to mention Perfect Chaos can only be Perfect Chaos with all 7 emeralds, while Generations Sonic is trying to collect them in his own timeline. So if Generations Eggman died, the versions before him would still be alive. If say, we made Classic Eggman visibly obvious during his """death""", then Tails should say, "I thought you said Robotnik died, so how come Eggman is alive?" Ultimately we can also bring up the regular levels or Perfect Chaos, and how Eggman's influence is also still present. Tails is surprised that Eggman who was seemly killed in front of him, is controlling the Time Eater. ----------------- Hilariously, me mentioning death, dead, and dying/all the words to describe someone being toast, is my own rewrite. But it makes more sense right? But my question is this. Would you consider being petrified as being dead dead? In the superior Pontaff written Generations, Tails sure makes it sound like it. Only alive once the wicked spell has been weakened enough. ----------------- -In the inferior Ian Bin written Generations Tails: Stopping Eggman is always good, but the root of the problem is that monster. Maybe we can call a truce and... ? So with all that, here's what I think is wrong. #1 It makes Tails stupid by him not being suspicious of the situation, and instead thinking to negotiate with a guy who clearly is not in the mood to negotiate, rather than negotiate with characters in the hub. Like Ian Bin sure seems like he really did forget about the hub, and thus the hub characters LMFAO. There's also the subtle hint that the Time Eater is helping Modern Eggman in the fight when you're falling. Unless that isn't supposed to be that? And um, would Eggman, or any character Sonic interacts with in the levels have any knowledge of what's going on? Would they care when they're busy in their own timeline? Like Classic Eggman wasn't aware of the Time Eater being controlled by his Modern self. These are questions that didn't need mentioning when Tails could simply get everyone who was at least at Sonic's party to help defeat the Time Eater instead of being a fool Ian Bin loves making him be. He's supposed to be smart, how does he forget this when he writes Tails saying jargon, when the real Tails never says jargon. He does not speak like that. Yet he forgots he's smart LMFAO!!!!! #2 Am I to believe "because Classic Sonic can't talk" or "If it didn't happen on screen, it didn't happen." Both are laughably dumb. #3 The line is completely different from the original. ----------------- I'm going to assume KZbin would probably not let me post links, unless maybe if I was a moderator? :> www.tumblr.com/prop90player/758745388444450816/ironic-how-sonic-says-this-while-we-see-his-own?source=share But I made a post on Tails in Lost World being peak actually. It doesn't explain every detail ever. But what I'll add is that Eggman teaming up with Sonic & Tails is purely in Eggman's favor (which is all his team ups. "If I do, what's in it for me?"), and Sonic & Tails lose out big time. Tails is right the entire game. To me, Lost World Tails is easily top 5 portrayals. Perhaps becauses he's so what I like? Very similar to my other favourites, like Sonic Battle and Sonic Riders, and Sonic Riders: Shooting Star, umm uuhhh, "Zero Gravity" LOL.

Very interesting theories. You've put a lot of thought into this :)

Good video. I agree with a lot of your takes especially with the voice acting, I usually play my sonic games in Japanese so I don't really have to dealt with this issue but man they really did drop the ball on the voice acting here didn't they.

There's some points I didn't get around to, but I covered the topic as best I could without waiting until next year :/ I really wish Sega wouldn't just rewrite the history of the series. Fix continuity with new games, don't mess with the old outside of, like, graphics and performance.
