lol where do you live? China? This is a Chinese dress a novelty rather. Not our clothes. What do you exactly mean “not cleanest construction? It takes place in Japan. Kyoto at that, and it has a number of excellent tailors. Do you even know Kyoto? History of itself? Not some tourist trap thing Kyoto is known for. My grandfather was a custom suit tailor in Japan. My mom is a seamstress. You don’t really know what you’re talking about.

As someone who makes their own clothes by hand, I just need to say that the finish on this dress isn't really great, and I personally would be a wee bit unhappy with it. But I totally understand that these makers are working to deadlines with very generic patterns and this is still a lot better than your average off the rack garment. The sound of the sewing machine is somewhat nightmarish after you've battled them for so long and have gone on to hand sewing, which is meditative and gives a much better result. Try it!

Agree. I would have been upset with those rippled sideseams if I had paid for this.
I don’t understand the hand stitching just to cut it & leave strings hanging🤷♀️ Can anyone help me?

she's using the thread as markings instead of chalk so it doesn't leave residue. it guides her where to sew and then you can see the seamstress remove the white threads later.

@@renjiai Thank you! I suspected that but I’ve never seen anyone do that. I’ve seen for 30 years but it’s wonderful to still learn new things. Thank you kindly.

I have been sewing for sixty years. The tailor tacks I use to transfer markings are a loop. I consider myself a good dressmaker/ designer and pride myself on attention to detail. I was pleasantly surprised that my work is significantly more professional than this..

Quanto tempo ci vuole per tagliare e confezionare questo abito? E quanto costa? Complimenti per il lavoro!!!

This is a simple dress to construct. It would require an initial consultation, taking measurements and then drafting a pattern. I always make a toile ( which is a mock up of the dress) and then fit the mock up; at this point I would make whatever alterations necessary on the mock up and transfer these alterations to the pattern pieces. The dress is then cut out on the chosen fabric, sewn and another fitting is called for. At this point everything should be perfect. If a few tweaks are necessary it would only take minutes to fix. This entire construction would take approximately 10 hours, this does not include fittings nor does it include fabric or haberdashery. It takes years to arrive at an excellent level of competence so factor that in when pricing. …..how much would you pay for a bespoke garment like this???
I don't like this video... I worked in sector and some steps could be jumped or do ie better. But thank to show me the industrial machine and their sound.
