"Big beat" or "breakbeat". It was very popular in the 90s and appeared in movies like the Matrix and Blade. Then it died fairly quickly in the early 2000s and was taken over by drum and bass, which was an evolution from it. Search for the Prodigy's older stuff like the "fat of the land" Album and rob dougan's "furious angels" album if you want some of the best big beat music ever...

FYI early Prodigy was classed as breakbeat hardcore/ jungle/ techno, not drum and bass or big beat, although this was prototype for that music developed later, we called it hardcore.when we were kids.
