Fuel injected Triumph 2.5PI, as used by the Met Police. Super fast when the injection system is properly set up. Capable in excess of 125mph with manual/overdrive running on five star fuel and 0-60 in just under 8 seconds. 80-100 in direct top simply unmatched by any saloon of the day except an XJ12 or Double Six. All stats given in the magazines get the performance of this model wrong. Twin carb versions were breathlessly fussy above 3,700 rpm on what is an unusually long stroke engine, but with the early pre- '73 PI system, the engine revs smoothly right up to the 5,850 rpm red-line when on-song; usually on a hot, late afternoon in the summer. Best car I ever owned.

@@briansaiditsoitmustbetrue4206 the cars in this video are a 1978 Ford Capri 3.0 S, and a 1971 Triumph 2500 PI, the Capri being 44 years old and the triumph 51 years old. So yes your modern car will be faster than cars that are 44 and 50 years old, what’s your point? Cars in the future will be faster than your fiesta.

@@Mk7adxm My current sober Lexus GS will leave my beloved old 83 Cavalier SRi for dead. Yet that thing seemed so much quicker at the time! Agreed...you can't compare different generations for performance at all. Both the Ford and the Triumph were two of the fastest cars on the market at the time...

Yeh my dad used to race one. A mk1. 2.5pi and he towled up the pack. I have a photo of him overtaking some turbo porche. He was quite proud of the car that day. Early on in his racing it there really wasnt a car in his class that could go up against the triumph on the track.

To all the experts on here saying that's a 2.0 Capri and not a 3.0 you can clearly see the right hand tail pipe right at the start of the clip, four cylinder Capri's had the exhaust tailpipe on the left hand side (except the Mk1), tailpipe on the right gives it away as a 3.0. You can also clearly see the two pipes at 2:04.

Both action-packed car chase sequences featured here were actually from the same episode of The Professionals titled Man Without a Past. The Ford Capri driven by Bodie (portrayed by the late Lewis Collins) is quite a cool car. The very same incidental music was used on both these action-packed car chase sequences of the Man Without a Past episode of The Professionals. An American plainclothes FBI officer (portrayed by the late Ed Bishop) was behind the wheel of a Triumph 2000 or 2500 sedan. I like watching these 2 action-packed car car chase scenes. Cool stuff.

My dad drove till he retired he was stuck in France during the dockers strike. He said the dockers were ok they even had lorry v docker boxing matches he was back from Italy . He once brought a 19 year old very pretty Polish girl to Britain she was nice to him. I never took the HGV passed bike test 1999 had accident 2001 lost my right leg and many other injury's.
